KEY KNOWN ISSUES:

  • [NEW!] Skimmer movement audio currently fails to sound.
  • [NEW!] When a system enters Incursion from Incursion Pending, Starports are not currently catching fire.
Why are we excited ! for NEW! issues? This is a bummer, I would rather see no new bugs
Honestly I hope I didn't write anywhere for people to be excited about new issues.
I was hoping to take the more informative, expectation setting spin on the messaging.
Additionally are squadron bookmarks ever going to get fixed? Everytime i create one the game crashes.

Greetings Commanders.

And so, Salvation is nigh…Update 13 and the conclusion of the Azimuth Saga are only a short number of hours away and we’re on the edge of our cockpit seats.
Before we get down to the business of update notes ahead of downtime and deployment, let’s recap today’s release deployment schedule.

We are still very much on track and working to the following, remaining itinerary:

Time Approximations (BST)
09:00
  • Server downtime begins for all Elite Dangerous Odyssey and Horizons players, on all platforms.
13:00
  • Elite Dangerous servers will be back online across all platforms.
  • Update 13 will be available.

The update notes will be delivered here in two sections within the same post.
  • The first section will be specific to Odyssey only, with the second specific to Horizons only.
Great! So without further ado, please head on over to the fancy new format of notes for your perusal. You'll find them published here: https://www.elitedangerous.com/news/elite-dangerous-update-13-notes

As usual we'll be about if you need us

Here we go! o7

Heya!
We're still on schedule with the...schedule outlined in the original post here, so update 13 will be available from 13:00 BST.
Being in system at HIP 22460 would be pretty cool but there is only 9 minutes until servers go down now.
I'm in that. Where should I be to watch the show? What's a good location? Like on a planet, in space, in a carrier...?

Some good bugfixes in there, thanks!

Hey Sally, thanks for a great write-up of patch notes, I enjoy reading them.

But: No patch notes on performance issues fixed? I think there's still a lot potential for optimizations, e.g. reducing the number of draw calls on-foot. It looks like every mesh object is processed multiple times instead of using instances, showing over 7000 draw calls inside a station lobby when other open world titles do around 2000 for displaying a whole map vista. Also, somehow Odyssey performance seems to be extremely affected by screen resolution: ED plays on my Steam Deck with 60 fps locked at 1280x800 (medium settings) while my gaming rig struggles to do so even at 1920x1080 (which is just a little bit more resolution for a much faster system, also medium settings). I cannot even think of running 1440p (where other games play completely fine). One last issue seems to be video memory budget overshoots when switching between ship and on-foot, limiting the VRAM budget to 4 GB (on a 6 GB card) for the game fixes most if not all performance drops when switching back and forth ship and on-foot.

But great to see such an extensive list of issues fixed, it covers a lot of issues I was seeing.

EDIT: @sallymorganmoore posted a note about it here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/elite-dangerous-update-13-notes.606623/post-9907562
