Hello!Hey Sally, thanks for a great write-up of patch notes, I enjoy reading them.
But: No patch notes on performance issues fixed? I think there's still a lot potential for optimizations, e.g. reducing the number of draw calls on-foot. It looks like every mesh object is processed multiple times instead of using instances, showing over 7000 draw calls inside a station lobby when other open world titles do around 2000 for displaying a whole map vista. Also, somehow Odyssey performance seems to be extremely affected by screen resolution: ED plays on my Steam Deck with 60 fps locked at 1280x800 (medium settings) while my gaming rig struggles to do so even at 1920x1080 (which is just a little bit more resolution for a much faster system, also medium settings). I cannot even think of running 1440p (where other games play completely fine). One last issue seems to be video memory budget overshoots when switching between ship and on-foot, limiting the VRAM budget to 4 GB (on a 6 GB card) for the game fixes most if not all performance drops when switching back and forth ship and on-foot.
But great to see such an extensive list of issues fixed, it covers a lot of issues I was seeing.
Just to confirm Sally, this is not something that will happen shortly after the servers go online, to be experienced by the people who happen to be in the game at the time is it? In other words - I won't be back home till the evening, will I miss out? (99% the answer is noHeya!
We're still on schedule with the...schedule outlined in the original post here, so update 13 will be available from 13:00 BST.
Being in system at HIP 22460 would be pretty cool but there is only 9 minutes until servers go down now.

It's all in the schedule table in this original post for you, Flameon. When should the download be up?
In about 4 hours. When should the download be up?
Hi Sally, just looking to clarify this. Im reading this as most of the larger ticket 'specific' optimisations have been done now. We will still get optimisation work in future updates but because they are smaller non-specific items they wont be specifically mentioned in the patch notes and just done as part of general development?Ok just wanted to make absolutely sure ahead of responding.
In previous updates you did indeed have an Optimisations section which called out some really targeted and specific optimisation fixes. Now, as we continue on some of our optimisation fixes are coming in with improvements to rendering and art for example and aren't as specific. They're basically tying in to development.
TLDR:
Optimising the game is still an ongoing part of the development process moving forward in general.
Does this mean Engineers will finally supply a Shipyard?? Please put in Shipyards for engineers! ; )
- Engineers will now offer non-Engineering services to all Commanders when they have invited status.
- Commanders will no longer need to unlock the Engineer Workshop to gain access to other services.
Oh thanks, I really didn't notice it. OTOH, I had no doubt that optimization is still being worked on, was just missing the notes.I addressed the reference (or lack of) to optimisation a little further back in this thread, as you've no doubt seen.
How do I do this?Cmdrs! don't forget to save the bindings o7

I wouldn't say they're DONE done. If we do have big, very specific optimisation issues addressed then they will be sectioned accordingly.Hi Sally, just looking to clarify this. ok great, thanks for the clarification! and good luck for today!I wouldn't say they're DONE done. If we do have big, very specific optimisation issues addressed then they will be sectioned accordingly.
Just so happens for this update they're tied to more general items like art and render which are called out in line under those headings.
