Hi
Saying "Greetings CMDR!" to other players before they gank you.

....My
limited experience in this context is I don't even get the luxury (?) to even communicate with these 'sociable' bi-peds most of the time. I don't think these types of aliens
want social pleasantries in my limited experience. At least the NPC's
do communicate on a basic level, and give you a narrow choice of alternative gameplay.
I have befriended a couple of these bi-peds
after they've obliterated my (unarmed) ship in the past, more to do with curiosity* on my part, some (the more unsavoury ones) I've just blocked through my own lack of patience trying to communicate (with the aim of sociable gameplay) and not getting any feedback.
* I've noticed through the 'friends / social' menu's that one or two of these (I'll be courteous here) 'Player Commanders' virtually
never leave the well known areas / Systems where ganking (I don't like that word btw. for some reasons), exists on a regular basis. In fact (I've checked) the only progress in the game that they've achieved is in combat, no 'Elites' in exploration, trade or other usual areas of progression in the game.
I just accept that this is how they want to play their game, no problem to me now as there are many ways to avoid these non sociable? Commanders. My interests in the game are fairly broad. Mining, Exploration, Trade, Mission based activity, PVE Combat and
sometimes interacting with other players in a constructive way. It's how I make the game constantly interesting.

Some players as in the examples above seem to be happy narrowing their field of play to one activity it seems. I personally think their overall form of play limits
them and more importantly impacts
Their future style of gameplay...the term 'biting off the hand that feeds you' springs to mind here.
Edit...Updating!
