Back on topic.. what's the UK map like in ETS?

It's not great graphical wise, but as part of a massive fidelity overhaul (Germany is first out) it will get on par with the more rescent DLC's.

It is a great relaxing game. Slap on some QoL mods and you're set. The internet radio tuner is brilliant!

Not sure if this has been said yet, but.. Trailer ownership is coming to both ETS2 & ATS, its with patch 1.32** I think, link from the steam page. There will also be trailer customisation, not sure how much, but it all sounds very good indeed.

Sweet, i've not played in months, but i do keep meaning to give it a whirl.

On a completely unrelated topic, anyone got any hints for using a steering wheel with ETS2? I quickly gave it a try but it seemed like the wheel rotation was kind of bound to full left being full left, rather than analogue and turning quicker or slower based on the amount of rotation. Anyone know if there is a setting for this, and if so, where?

Even though some of the graphics are dated I love the look of ETS but even more I love how they got the head lights just right. At night and full beam actually looks like full beam (and the AI flash you that are driving towards you lol). Sunrises are really nice and there are some times when the game looks particularly stunning :)

I agree. I quite enjoy the look of ETS2 and sometimes find some beautiful scenes as I'm trucking along.

ETS / ATS is/are great games..... esp in VR. it is so cool driving a truck at 80mph around twisty roads trying not to crash :)

just remember.. no steam saves. TWICE i have lost my entire progression due once to a pc spring clean and once to hdd failure. it is quite demoralising having to start from scratch multiple times.

Apparently with ATS, modders are working on MP with AI - if that comes along then I'll split my NMS play in half lol

The AI reacting to full beam is a cool thing I just discovered. And yeah, it's a great hungover game...(did i say that loud?)

As much as I love the old UK, I fear the moment I get a contract involving the kingdom. Driving on the left lane?! Instant red numbers in my book.

Which is good news as ETS and ATS are fairly interchangable in terms of mod coding

This part confused me though - how can they be working on an AI mod for ATS but nobody could ever make one for ETS? Why can't they just add the bloody things by the actual game developer? GTA has been doing it, literally, for decades but over at ETS HQ this is a seemingly impossible feat! Driving on empty roads in a driving game shouldn't be a thing unless it's 4am in the morning lol

There are a few behavioural ai mods for ETS2, has been for a long time. I used to use one regular, but have found recently that the stock ai seems to be better. There is plenty of room for work, but there again with ai, there always is..

I've just clocked up 1791hrs in ETS2.. I had to think why, then I thought ah yes I know Mario map with preferred journeys on 'long distance'. Those trips were hours of gaming for just one trip. No wonder.. I do love the game.

I'm confused, I thought we were talking about AI in a MP content.

The ETS2MP mod have explained a few times theyve had issues, primarily with how the AI reacts to multiple players when theyre designed for only one player and their spawning in.

I'm asking why it was that in MP, no AI cars spawn when the likes of GTA have been doing it for decades and tons of other devs so it's easily doable but they didn't. I heard that ATS are working on AI cars for MP which made me wonder why nobody made one for ETS. Maybe ATS doesn't spawn AI around the player but then doesn't GTA do that and yet you can MP and drive with other players.

I won't play MP ETS without other traffic as it's a large part of the game. I certainly wouldn't play ETS if there were literally no other cars on the road so I don't see why anyone would for MP. Put AI cars in MP though and me and my friends would have a huge convoy lol

Isn't the MP mod a third party mod? So, they're (third party) modding Multiplayer into an otherwise single player game? It stands to reason full functionality and the tracking of AI across networking - which isn't part of the game - might be tough without any existing code in the game to support it. GTA would have had network play built in from the core, by it's devs. Am I misunderstanding something, has MP become an official part of ETS2? It's been well over a year since I've looked at MP so I appreciate Im way behind

Yeah, mp is a mod, nothing to do with the devs. I can't see it being possible, the devs have always looked on ETS as a single player games.
So trying to implement ai into a mp mod, would be a nightmare, I would think. :O

Yes it's a mod. My point I suppose is that MP support should have been added in by ETS devs, especially for ATS. The modders are stuck with what they have to work with and it's a pity because ETS/ATS would massively benefit from working MP.
