Exploration - When worlds colide

I have to say being on the surface of one of those moons at the impact point would give me some issues....I have a funny almost vertigo type feeling just thinking about it [woah]

Will be reaching the system tomorrow and update you on that. Sad to see that it will only be very close in +6 weeks, I'd like to make my way to Sag A* and Beagle after I hit Colonia, though this seems very tempting.

How can I go about calculating this/is there a way to be certain when/if they will be very close again? Might do a few weeks round tour to get some pics like in the OP before heading to Beagle then.

See my post on page 2, that's how I calculated it.

see, this is how planets are born son

That's probably because they often are - a lot are within the larger moon's roche limit (plus, binary moons aren't stable in the first place).

Not sure... But I've seen things you people wouldn't believe... Sorry, went into Blade Runner there! Let's try again... :)

I've seen round binary moons of similar sizes closer than their combined diameters... This - in my head - just feels wrong...

Trying again:

The moons don't seem to be (much) closer than in your pictures, though I might misjudge that. Distance form surface of 2b to 2c is 1.14 ls.

I'm landed on the surface of Kyloasly DA-A f69 2 c right now.
The B moon reads 0.79ls away @ 03:48 in game time.
I'll check back tomorrow to see if it's any closer.

Update: This morning at 14:45 it's now at 0.78ls
I had the gamma turned way up 'cause I couldn't see a thing here last night

Update: And now at 03:40 game time the next day it's at 0.76ls. ~0.03ls closer in ~24hrs
Update: @ 03:24 the following day it's now at 0.73ls. Consistent at 0.03ls per day
I'll stay parked here until the event and check in periodically. I'll play on my alt account until then.

Update: @02:02 on 25 Sept, the B moon is now 0.64ls away. Looking larger in the sky.
