I know I add to the OP when I feel it's appropriate; I updated it just this week for example. Other points you make will almost certainly be addressed, such as the ability to ogle your ship via camera/drones or some such functionality. We are darn proud of our ships and we want to eat them up with our eyes just as much as you do!
As long as you won't have the traditional "flying in a 3rd person mode" option. If you can launch a drone for taking 3d vanity shots, that is just fine.
External view, yes of course. I remember the original BBC Elite with it's left right and rear views. Map it to the F2 key please, just like in DCS with mouse controlling the view angle and scroll wheel to zoom in and out.
