Frontier have consistently put out excellent promo videos, attend trade shows, have a ton of livestreamers, a community podcast that's put out over 50 shows, LaveCon and other meet ups, hundreds of YouTube channels showing gameplay, the superb Isinona gameplay videos... I don't remember 1c having any of that, in fact IL2 CLOD was rescued by the community, it was unplayable at launch and for a long time afterward.

Is there really a need for ED fans to make external view trailers with bland awful over the top Holywood orchestral muzak?

Its been planned for ages, it was to be done in a way that didn't break immersion and had a physical component like a drone or remote camera.

It's placeholder...

Those hundreds of elite videos that show almost the exact same thing. Some of us tried to make different kinds of videos using the sidewinder top window etc, but our possibilities are extremely nerfed by the limitations. I don't like your disrespectful comment on what you think we would make, personally I think even with this semi useful camera we will start seeing far superior videos than before, but really not a patch on what we could make with an unrestrained camera allowing for ship control etc.

And it would add an extra weight of marketing FD couldn't buy. Just like YouTube videos have done for countless games.

The tools available for DCS and the like though puts FD to shame though, and the videos will unfortunately suffer by comparison.

I've actually proposed the Driver/1c solution myself so often it could be considered spamming in this thread and many more. Unfortunately the duckface crowd prevalent in this thread lacked the attention span and comprehension to consider it.

Once people got used to an instant gratification mindset, it's hard to get it out of their minds.

If sensors (which appear to be solely based on heat, not radar) wouldn't be completely sub-par compared to eyesight in regards to range, that would make sense. Even in the rifts poor resolution, I can spot ships from far further away than my sensors do at max range - and my eyes are not fooled by silent running.

Or maybe people considered your proposal, and find it simply sucks, or they like something else?

You repeating your suggestion over and over doesn't make it any better you know?

And now I am a member of the duckface crowd, because I want to take screenshots with my ship in the frame and no hud or cockpit in the way? And Sandmann finds me narcissistic...

You two are, in my opinion, some of the most arrogant people on these forums in a long time.

*sigh*

This is why I'm looking forward to the external camera...

I'll never come back here again. It just needed my ship in the view for a perfect picture.

I cant wait to post some beauty shots with my shiny Cobra in the middle. (I`m sure those will be awful, arcade trash like and immersion ruining for everybody... yes).

And finally, FD steps over itself and decides, against their better judgement, to make some money off the skins!

The drama, the outrage. And now it's too late, as people's nostalgia washed away and interest faded.

My applause.

....I'd get more of a nostalgic feeling if I could pause the game before combat, rotate camera, find my enemy, decide a tactic, hit autopilot head straight for them and *Splat*

Had anyone else noticed that when made a silhouette by a nearby sun, and when landing on an outpost's external pad, you could see the shadow of your fully articulated landing gear deploy?

Well, now we won't need a helpful star to let us see what's going on. Yay I say!!!!

And for the moaners - well I've noticed that they are routinely formed from the same 'group', across all subjects. Draw your own conclusions.

ppl like drama.

And some ppl just like to watch the world burn... and shy of that, they like to moan... and moan...

Like beeing able to look at your weener and say: YES! its still there.
Would be nicer if you got the option to switch 1st and 3rd person.

I figure it's a pity if you can't see it from first person, but maybe you should lose some weight for other reasons.

Hint: If you need to look to see if it's there, it may be diabetic neuropathy.
