I haven't tried it, but I'd assume the camera view adjusts automatically to fit the ship in frame, depending on ship size? I can't see how else it'd work otherwise, given how massively the ships vary in size.

how do i use the new camera mode?
it would be grate to have a bedroom and toilet on bored you're ship.. it would be cool to flush turds out into deep space,
I agree that game play should be kept in cockpit, or 1st person, that is the essence of elite, but I like the idea of a selfie drone for creating some memorable snapshots of my travels around the systems.
I am fine with it being like an interface the pilot uses controling the drone, but would lock you out of ship controls and you could have to pilot it back to dock with your ship, scoop it with your cargo scoop or self destruct in an emergancy to regain control of your ship more quickly. but you can carry a limited amount that would need to be re-stocked when you lose to many.
You could even use them for recon missions to take pics up close of installations, Capital Ships without being detected.. spy drones so to speak![]()
Newsflash..we have a 3p cam now..
Yeah, but it's a debug camera. It's a stopgap until the drone stuff is fully implemented, only left in the release version to shut up all the whiners in this thread.
I'm so glad you don't actually make the game. That way, the huge number of whiners get to enjoy it![]()
Don't feed the trolls!![]()
Having spent some time with the debug camera, I love it, especially the fact it starts in the perfect view for a cockpit/HUDless shot.
IMHO, just needs:-
1) A bit of inertia added to the movement to smooth it out a bit.
2) The camera to remember where it last was when you return to it.
3) Keys 1-->0 to move the camera to preset/hardcoded positions.
4) The warning when entering it to only be given the first time, and not every time, into it.
