Failure Developments at it again

Apologist or realist. Both wildly different from some entitled manbaby having yet another tantrum about a video game triviality.

Surely you have to acknowledge this is probably the most borked update they've ever released. Nearly every part of the game is broken in some way... I think the community has just had it with Fdevs repeated lack of QA, they don't seem to learn anything and just continue to dump largely untested builds on the production servers.

They need to run betas and they need to respond to the reported bugs on those betas. Using your live production servers to iron out critical bugs is hugely amateurish.

This update cut every community Im a part of in half, in less than a few hours. I really hope we can recover from this one because its looking pretty bad
I really don't. At this point this madness should better come to an end and make way for other games like Star Citizen or maybe a second EVE? Everything but this, please.

These folks are absolutely allowed to make complaints without being belittled, patronised, condescended too etc.
True, as long as they don't act like idiots. In that case I'll treat them as what they are.
You won't find me disagreeing with someone who complains about bugs. If they add a bunch of hyperbole and request developers to be fired (=potentially destroying their lifes and family) just because it'll take a day or two until stored modules display the correct values... Well, I'll gladly be called apologist for pointing that nonsense out.

The white knighting of a subpar minor update that took 5 months to develop and is still broken as hell is unbelievable. Especially when Hello Games prove time and time that it is possible to deliver major content that works with less people involved in the same timeframe.

Granted, NMS initial release was a mess. Hello Games got the flak for that alright. But they pulled through, set things in order, and their game is getting better and better.

I'm still willing to wait if FD get their stuff finally straight with the 2020 update, but this year is the all time low for ED. I don't single out individual people, I have no idea if the devs, the QA team, or the management or whoever is at fault here. But FD as a company are currently doing their best to ruin their flagship game. If it still is their flagship game. I sometimes doubt that.

Which makes sense... I'm not making apologies for them though.

"We want players to do whatever they normally do, but earn Arx while they do it" - which means the Arx system ties into everything in some way (however small). And the it's the Arx system isn't working properly, therefore not much is.

I know that beta isn't popular with FD right now, but I have to wonder whether this should have been one given the potential scope of it.

Every major release should have a beta period, it's development 101. Yes bugs will happen, and some bugs will slip through a beta...but you wouldn't get this complete cluster **** every time.

Nope. Its par for the course no better and no worse than any other patch for any game or any software for that matter. The current salt water flood and outbreak of the forum undead is also not better or worse than it is every other time.

Its just another patch, do something else for a bit if the inevitable minor teething issues actually bother you.

Personally I always find the outrage to be really funny.

I've read that comment after every update so far.
So either each update is worse than the one before, or it's simply not the worst update of all times... ;)

Nah this is more bugged than any patch I can remember, even 3.3 or 2.3. I'm not that bothered really, it's just annoying seeing the same people leaping to the defence of a company that's not really treating it's playerbase with much respect: "Gotta get ARX up and running ASAP to make $$ ££ , no time for beta periods... the stakeholders need their dividends". Please.

The last NMS update wasn't even playable.

4.4k comments, I remember that over 3k here made over the first week after launch.

I could google for more.

I just did.
There, 1000 bug reports from the last 30 days:

This does not excuse Frontier from releasing an update that has broken several parts of the game that it should not have done.
This does not excuse Frontier from a lack of beta testing with players, a period during which bugs could have been highlighted.
This does not excuse a company with the experience of Frontier releasing broken update after broken update time and time again, they should be better than this.

There used to be a time I defended Frontier, praised them even, but there comes a point when you just can't excuse them any more.

I agree. The point of these forums is to interact with Frontier and give them feedback. And that's what most people (not all, obviously) are doing.

It's a tough task if I'm honest.

We all love this game, we all feel slightly attacked when a thing we enjoy gets critiqued, nothing is above criticism.

All we can do is try to state our opinions without being personal about it, I'm talking both sides of any argument and I have been guilty of things like this too, we're humans, we love cliques and all that.

The posts that I find particularly egregious are the ones that, while not mentioning things specifically, manage to somehow slip in a good chunk of iareverysmart and thishorseistall whilst at the same time not contributing to the discussion, of which I am definitely 100% guilty, as is every one else, it's in our nature.

Please excuse me for a while, I'm attempting to edit my UI colours until I can't see anything store related.

I could cut and paste my replies to an identical thread from any other patch the games ever had.

This is all perfectly normal. Some minor bugs occur, people claim the sky is falling. I say cool your boots a bit there old chum and do something else for a bit if it bothers you.

Then people call me a white knight.

Round and round the merry-go-round goes.

"This is perfectly normal" That's the point, "normal" should be better than this.

You're joking, right?
HG even though they have the experimental server, major updates don't see the light of day on them, instead get released in an unplayable state, with major hype train beforehand. Let's set aside the visual part of the game that looks like it was drawn with crayons, the update was unplayable with constant crashes, the multiplayer part is still a roulette if it will work or not in addition to things behaving very strange if there's more than one person involved, with greater instancing problems than elite has. I don't know how many hours you have in nms, but not one major update went through in a working order. As for their small team, that's by their choice and is more of a con than a pro considering how much money they made so far.

As for elites latest update, it seems to be from person to person. While a friend had issues, I had absolutely none, even did a run of void opals without any problems.
