Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

Back on the topic of complementary packs (SEA-Tropical, Africa-Arid), is there a possibility that Twilight pack was already a complementary for NA animal pack? I mean Wombat aside (Tropical had two African animals and Arid a Rhino)

If that's so then I think Mountain scenery pack is more likely candidate than Woodlands. Also mountains have more to offer in terms of possible scenery than Woodlands (in my opinion).
The problem with Twilight being the counter to the NAAP is that none of the scenery is American. Sure we kind of adopted Halloween as a big thing here but all of that scenery is either European or European in origin. Halloween isn't an American thing.

I think speculation at this point has proven to be rather pointless because apparently Frontier doesn't think like us at all when coming up with rosters and themes.

That said i've seen several interesting themes proposed here so i would like to make my wishlist roster for some of them:

Highlands/mountains

NA northwest building pieces (wood, rock, aboriginal) or Himalayans/Tibetan architecture

1. Wolverine
2. Spectacled bear
3. Markhor or takin
4. Golden snub nosed monkey or Gelada or hamadryas
5. Ex: mangshan viper or giant chinese salamander

Children's zoo

Interactive pieces: playgrounds, feeding stations, an improvement on walthrough habitats and exhibitis with petting animations, more interaction between guests and animals even through glass barriers or over fences. Barn and farm pieces

1. Squirrel monkey
2. African pygmy goat
3. Patagonian Mara
4. Mallard or mandarin duck
5. Ex: ant farm or honeybees or if WE: some kind of psittacidae bird either lorikeets, budgerigards, parrots or macaws or a variety of tamarins/matmosets.

Arboreal animal pack (complement to Tropical pack)

We just got 5 ungulates in one pack why not 3/4 monkeys in one pack and all the animals from africa so i think a new world centric pack is only fair.

1. Ocelot
2. Coati
3. Howler monkey
4. Spider monkey
5. Mantled guereza or scarlet ibis (or any tropical bird really)
6. Tree kangaroo
7. Tamandua or coendu or NA procupine
8. WE: toucans or macaws or the tamarin variety

Coastal/Beach pack

Coastal towns type of buildings and beach props. Could be either cold or hot oriented (either European/Northern NA coasts or Caribbean)

1. Walrus
2. Sea otter
3. Brown pelican
4. Either american flamingo or a third penguin (rockhopper or little blue)
5. No idea what could be for exhibit unless they introduce aquarium boxes. Or maybe a crab of some kind?

Nocturnal animal pack (complement to Twilight pack)

1. Margay
2. Kinkajou
3. Aye aye
4. Tarsier or loris or night monkey or galagos
5. Kiwi
6. Tasmanian devil
7. Ringtail or civets
8. WE: vampire bat or some owl species or E: naked mole rat

Endangered animal pack (complement to Conservation pack)

1. Tasmanian devil could go here as well
2. Black footed ferret
3. Sumatran rhinoceros
4. Saiga antelope
5. Cuban crocodile
6. Grey crowned crane
7. Golden snub nosed monkey or Coquerel sifaka
8. WE or E but no idea what. Honestly there are tons of reptiles and amphibians that could fit.

Honorable mention to endangered birds like philipine eagle and californian condor.

Anniversary animals: Greater rhea amd blackbuck

If we have one more year support I.e. 4 dlc, we will have 23 habitat animals only. It is totally not enough to satisfy our needs
Lets be real, people are never satisfied :D
There will always be something else people want next.
But if there are really 23 habitat animals left and i look at the 26 (because porc, camel and 2toed sloth are still there) top animals at the 2023 meta wishlist i feel like the game would be in a state were most people can agree its acceptable to close out.

People will be satisfied if frontier give us birds and aquatic animals@@

Ok lets imagine we get an Aviary and Aquarium pack with 8 animals each. Do you think people will be content with just 8 birds or just 8 aquatics? I dont think so, they will ask we also need XYZ and ABC and so on
If frontier give us both birds and aquatics, then the game support will last for two more years.

I’m not convinced that DLC will continue past this winter as it stands, meaning 11 animals left (12 if we get another anniversary animal, which I consider likely but not guaranteed). I don’t consider this outcome likely at all, but I think this is probably my ideal final two packs:

Woodlands Pack
  • Tasmanian devil
  • Raccoon dog
  • Black howler
  • North Island brown kiwi
  • Hoffman’s two-toed sloth
Anniversary 4
  • Blackbuck
Arboreal Animal Pack
  • Common squirrel monkey
  • Mantled guereza
  • Matschie’s tree kangaroo
  • Coatimundi
  • Ocelot
  • Southern tamandua
  • Spectacled bear
  • Panther chameleon
Whatever it takes to get me my raccoon dog (woodlands over islands just to get the howler), keeps us from ending on the sour note of the Tasmanian devil not happening, gives a tiny bit of representation to Oceania and a decent final boost to South America (real shame about the mara though), the last two exhibit species I care about now that I’ve written off walkthrough birds, and a so-far-beyond-optimistic three monkeys. Some things are just lost causes at this point, but I think this would pick up the pieces as best as possible while keeping it to just one total bias pick.

MOUNTAIN (my favorite option)
  • Markhor (NT)
  • Spectacled Bear (VU)
  • Ethiopian Wolf (EN)
  • Golden Snub-nosed Monkey (EN)
  • Wild Yak (VU)
  • Andean Mountain Cat (EN)
  • Alpine Marmot (LC)
  • Sugar Glider (LC) [Walkthrough Exhibit]
SAFARI
  • West African Giraffe (VU)
  • Grévy's Zebra (EN)
  • Secretary Bird (EN)
  • Black Rhino (CR)
  • Giant Eland (VU)
  • Helmeted guineafowl (LC)
  • African Leopard (VU)
  • Giant Girdled Lizard (VU) [exhibit]
ISLANDS
  • Banteng (EN)
  • Sumatran Rhinoceros (CR)
  • Blue-spotted Tree Monitor (EN)
  • Tasmanian Devil (EN)
  • Kakapo (CR)
  • Diademed Sifaka (CR)
  • Galápagos Pink Land Iguana (CR) [exhibit]
  • Ultramarine Lorikeet (CR) [Walkthrough Exhibit]
Except for the Ethiopian wolf and Galapagos iguana that were never in captivity in real-life (were they?), I agreed with and hope for that.

This is my first contribution here, since I didn't want to speculate for autumn without knowing what we have for summer. After the grassland, tropical and arid pack, I'm completely sure that the next pack is going to have a colder theme. I see three main options: Alpine, Islands or Forest. The question is: which of these themes could have better scenery pieces?

I don't see us getting a Caribbean or Polynesian building set in autumn, and we already have a kind of Japanese building set. Also those themes wouldn't macth the likely animals of an island pack. So that rules out an Island pack for me.

What theme have we asked for years? Horizontal wood set and horizontal logs set. What comes to my mind? An Alpine lodge.

What matches an Alpine pack with alpine lodges/cabins building set? Hotels. There you have update 1.15.

What animals match an Alpine pack?

Andes (South America): Andean bear, which will be able to use the last remaining enrichment item only usable by 1 animal (the feeder for thr sun bear)
Rocky mountains (North America): wolverine, which is the second most wanted animal on the meta wishlist. The way it moves is very different from the badger, so this animal will require some work to be animated.
Alps and Pyrenees (Europe): Alpine marmot, which would be the oddball and reuse the digging system of the prairie dogs and meerkats.
Himalayas (Asia): Markhor, takin or yak, which are the kind of animals most associated with mountains.
Blue Mountains (Australia): green and golden bell frog, which would be the exhibit animal.

What about the (temperate) forest pack? I guess it could also fit a similar building set, but I just don't feel it. In any case, just for fun, I would go for:

Australian forest: Tasmanian devil
European forest: wild boar
North American forest: wapiti
South American forest: howler monkey
Asian forest: Chinese or Japanese giant salamander (exhibit)

And I think we'll get the DLC on 3 October.

The problem with Twilight being the counter to the NAAP is that none of the scenery is American. Sure we kind of adopted Halloween as a big thing here but all of that scenery is either European or European in origin. Halloween isn't an American thing.
That's correct, perhaps if potential mountain goes more international than Arid, we could get some American scenery that can be found in US and Canadian mountain ranges.

I think European mountain scenery was somewhat settled in European pack, partially, the new scenery can be inspired by Native American, Aztec/Mayan and Himalayan stuff. With addition of some modern equipments of mountain lodges in National Parks, Firetowers, Cabins...

May I show mine? If yes, here.

Safari Pack
  1. African leopard (could be for Anniversary or Forest Animals pack featuring residents of any kind of forests)
  2. Any baboon species
  3. Masai giraffe (would another giraffe be a good idea?)
  4. Black-backed jackal
  5. Green or black mamba (exhibit)
Anniversary
African leopard (due to or in case run out of African, jungly and savanna ideas for next packs)

Mountain Pack (snowy mountain idea for winter)
  1. Markhor
  2. Wild yak
  3. Mountain goat
  4. Bighorn sheep
  5. Chinchilla (exhibit? Even though/if way too small for habitat?)
Yes. I understand those Habitat-type mountain-native species are of the same group/classification (even-toed ungulates) but that's all for me to hope for and/or accept.

Tbh I’m gonna be very unrealistic. If I had an option I would want the last two packs to be animal packs. I can easily add more props, but modders need more rigs to properly do more animals. I’m gonna be unrealistic and suggest the next two packs:

We had a Tropical, and an Arid pack, get ready for the Forest pack!
  1. Tasmanian Devil
  2. North Island Brown Kiwi
  3. American Black Bear
  4. Golden Pheasant
  5. Black Howler Monkey
  6. Radiated Tortoise
  7. Wood duck/ Mallard Duck/ Mandarin Duck/ DUCK
  8. Exhibit animal: King Cobra
Also here is an absolute stretch, but if we aren’t getting more packs after the end of this year I think this would be a good way to end it: the bird pack inhales more copium

  1. Bald Eagle
  2. Scarlet Macaw
  3. Great Indian Hornbill
  4. Griffon Vulture
  5. Snowy Owl
  6. Toco Toucan
  7. Kookaburra
  8. As the last walkthrough exhibit animal: finally we get a budgie
Trying to nail the list down to only 8 birds is very hard, but modders should be able to do the rest. If there was one thing I would like, the bird pack would be all exhibit animals so maybe we could get 16 species. The rigs would just be reused a lot.

Regarding the birds...if they were to do a pack fully for exhibit birds, I'd also certainly hope each "type" of bird would get two species on average. Maybe doubling up on the Macaws and only have 1 species for a couple of types? But my thoughts on it:

Bald and Golden Eagles
Snowy and Eurasian Eagle owls
Toco and Keel-billed Toucans
Great Indian and Rhinoceros Hornbills
Sulpher Crested and Major Mitchell's Cockatoos
Scarlet, Hyacinth, Military Green and Blue and Yellow Macaws
Kookaburra - not sure we need two kingfishers
Last bird - Vulture, Budgie, Lovebird, African Parrot, or my personal favorite the Pileated Woodpecker

For me personally, if they were to go the exhibit bird route...that's 16 exhibit birds of varying types, and would probably be the minimum that I'd honestly be "okay" with. Species can be flexible for the most part, but Bald Eagle, at least two Macaws, the Sulpher Crested Cockatoo and the Toco Toucan are the absolute necessities, again if they were to jump into Exhibit birds at all.

Hi! I'm new here.
Some time ago, I had heard somewhere that datamining had found that the limit of space in the zoopedia was 200 species. I don't know if that's true, and it doesn't mean that the developers aren't going to extend the limit, but let's assume that it will stop at 200. That would mean that there would still be 34 places available, enough to make 4-5 additionnal packs plus one animal for the game's anniversary.
I think we've pretty much covered everything we could hope for in terms of decoration. So I'm assuming that most of the remaining packs will be animal packs and not decoration packs.
Based on that, I hope we'll have a mountain pack with the golden takin and the Pallas cat, which are my top picks. A coastal themed pack would also be nice. In particular, I'd like to have the walrus, which is number 1 on my whishlist. A forest pack with the Tasmanian devil and the wild boar. And finally, I'd really like a birds of the world pack, with at least ten species of bird.
