The UP should be easier to find with better in-game instructions and make the Corrosive resistant rack more widely available for players.
I don't tend to argue with making things a little easier, but everything about UP's, unknown sites and Thargoids has been 100% discovered by players ingame. There is no need to 'detailed instructions' about how to find UP's, as there is a TON of information in the forums, and on the Web.
Now, what I suspect you're really complaining about is the lack of player-founds information IN-GAME - and this I think I agree with. Galnet is useless, we all agree with that. I think GalNet needs to be updated to be literally a galaxy-wide internet-type system, with user-created pages. Of course, this could lead to all sorts of problems, most being that any UGC is bound to be completely out-of-place in the game universe. However, something like this would bridge the gap between relying on ingame tools, and having to step outside the game to solve puzzles, and gain information.
I don't know the answer. I toyed with the idea of a 'Facebook-style' in-game social network accessible from an overlaid window - but that's just a sticking plaster over the gaping wound of missing information. FDev don't have the time nor resources to properly moderate any UGC ingame. Short of a voluntary force of players moderating content (which won't work - I have current experience of such work, and I get PAID for it), I don't think there is really any other option.
Since I don't want to see GalNet showing detailed instructions on how to solve ingame puzzles, I don't think there is a good solution to this issue.
