FDev: Credit rebalancing incoming, "more reward for higher risk" activities

Pfft. Skybox (and saltbox)

You should be able to pirate in anything- but it should be driven by circumstance (you are dirt poor), or that you need to for some mission based reason (say a place that only expects transport type ships in).

Nobody expects the Type 7 pirate!

As they said, people often run the moment they see a FdL or Corvette, but don't think a Type 7 is going to try and rob them.

The circumstances in this particular case was very funny though, because someone was AFK so they just sat there harvesting their cargo while they were away :D

one thing to bare in mind re combat rewards is that while blowing up a ship might not generate a large amount of cash it does create a lot of engineering materials.
Combat buffs should look at the amount of cash for thargoids and those available in combat zones. They are probably the most under valued in terms of difficulty.
In an ideal world having to do assasination missions in certain ships would be great, especially if you were forced to say assassinate someone while flying an Adder or a Sidewinder.

I think mining of valuable minerals should be rare unless in a Res site. That increases the risk reward mechanic.
The one exception would be outside the bubble where people could mine out in the far reaches of space in relative safety, then truck their riches back in their carriers.

If they could I'd want NPCs to shat themselves based on what you are flying- if you are notoriety 10 in something menacing they should drop all cargo and cry like children.

That would be balancing :D

Trying to be optimistic about these changes, but I'm doubtful they will be meaningful enough to make credits relevant, and if credits aren't relevant it hardly matters what the relative credit rewards are.

If reward is linked to risk then should mean that players in G5 murder boats would get less reward for the same activity than a player in a less capable ship.

Reward shouldn't be linked to risk. It should be linked to supply vs. demand.

Reading all this one has to wonder. What kind of perfectly broken game we gonna get when FD finishes with all those "upgrades"...

Same one we have now, just that everything will pay way, way, way, too much, instead of somethings just paying way too much.

The Cobra IV will be due for a buff then, because the risk of flying it into combat is greater than all the other ships combined :D

Most of the Cobra IV's my CMDR has see have had at least 3500 hull and took quite a bit of effort to shoot down, in those cases they didn't escape. They also tend to have quite a bit of fire power.

If the C4 is modified at all it will have to be made available to all as it will no longer be the ship that was promised as exclusive. The exclusive ship must remain as it was at the time of promise.. 😁
