Also undecided is how players will transition from ships or wheeled vehicles to walking on foot. The team wants players to have their own “Neil Armstrong moment” Hughes said, of being the first person to step on a distant world. Trouble is that they’re just not settled on what that moment will actually feel like. Also undecided is how Odyssey — which will not launch with support for virtual reality — will impact players who have long experienced the game exclusively in VR. Hughes said his team is keeping those heavily invested in VR technology in mind as they make their plans for launch.
In the short time I flew my Anacondas, that was my standard departure routine.... Usually preceeded by a slowly blossoming orange/red cloud where my ship used to beDamn. I wanted to be blasted vertically out of the Anaconda's escape pod hatches.
So, the 'Neil Armstrong moment' has been scrapped then?
Well, it does say the team WANTS the player to have that experience not that they will. So, the 'Neil Armstrong moment' has been scrapped then?

I'm mostly disappointed that its been 22 minutes and nobody has a fade-to-black armstrong video already.I know, but I wanted my 'Neil Armstrong' moment. So I find it disappointing that the journey from ship >>> surface will feature a fade-to-black.
It will be like the SRV transitionThe question is how the transition will be from ship to foot![]()
It'll still be an Armstrong moment. It's just that he'll have to wait for Aldrin to come down behind him and whip off the blindfold. So, the 'Neil Armstrong moment' has been scrapped then?
C'mon, this is FD we're talkin' about. I can almost guarantee you that atmos. flight will be identical to airless, just like on-foot deployment is identical to the srv.I'm glad they cleared the issue up earlyThe unknown part (which I asked about which I think is being looked into) is if certain ships have advantages in atmo. Plus, this also means that ships like the Dropship are no better than flying in with a T-10 troop wise- so no landing craft ramp down Normandy style stuff (at least in theory).
