FDev's Bruce: ship to foot transition will be fade-to-black, and expect physical multicrew drop-ship transitions to be the same

Was it in any doubt that ship to legs would be fade to black? Telepresence is the only way for you to download into your bipedal exoskeleton. :)

The way the SRV transition works we don't magically appear on the ground, we lower from the hatch and then drop down. I would hope the equivalent will happen here, with the hatch or door opening and we start at the top of the steps or travel down on the ramp.
I'd be ok with the fade to black transition if it puts you in the airlock and not on the ground.
Yeah, I agree. I've wondered how we'll manage things like our suits and weapons. I'd think an airlock would be a good place to pick your "loadout" before leaving your ship, and to switch back to your flightsuit/clothes when returning.

Even if this were the case though, and all they did was add an airlock (or several types based on manufacturer), they'd still have to do some work on ships that currently don't have obvious exit ramps. Two that come to mind are the ICourier and Dolphin. That kind of thing though, I would really appreciate.

I can imagine when they add ship interiors everyone will be asking after a month of playing for a fade to black transition to be added as it's tedious and time consuming to walk from the anaconda bridge to the station ;)

I know, but I wanted my 'Neil Armstrong' moment. So I find it disappointing that the journey from ship >>> surface will feature a fade-to-black.

The 'Neil Armstrong' moment is that, much like the moon landings, Elite Dangerous isn't real either! :p

This would be the least they could do to improve the experience of the first step on a new world. We should walk a few steps down an escalator or climb a ladder to the surface.

If it's only fade-to-black and then stand on the surface, that's disappointing. Because it feels like teleportation and the transition is not immersive.

I can already see all those explorers, touching down on their first planet only to realize they forgot to purchase legs for their commander module. 😅

Am I disappointed by this? A little but not much.

It would have been nice to walk around the cockpit to a turbolift to the landing ramp but personally I'd rather have Odyssey sooner and they can put this kind of stuff in later.

Although you can walk around in SC; you can't in NMS and to be honest don't really miss it in NMS.

When I asked this question, I was asking it literally- what do you see? I never expected interiors as such, just where you find yourself when you go out on foot. Do you start by the ship or in an airlock and then jump out? SRVs are lowered and raised, do people climb down, run down ramps etc?

Yes well they only spent the last 6 months that wasn't going to happen.

I'm hoping that you'll fade to black to the airlock which you open and then walk down the ramp to give you that Armstrong Moment. If it's a fade to black to the bottom of the ramp, I think they'll miss the big impact?
