Final roster speculation thread

These are what I hope for whatever DLC pack they will/would be.
  1. African leopard (Anniversary or Safari pack)
  2. Perentie (Anniversary if out of pack ideas featuring Australian and desert)
  3. Baboon (any species) (monkey or Safari pack)
  4. Masai giraffe (safari pack)
  5. Markhor (highland/alpine/mountain pack)
  6. Green sea turtle (aquarium pack)
  7. Ways to house larger snakes like green anaconda and larger pythons
  8. Aviary ideas for flying birds
  9. Small fish for Exhibit like clownfish, piranhas and seahorse
  10. Missing genera for Exhibit: toad, cobra and gecko

I desperately need 5 animals
tree roo
coati
swan
duck
rabbit

I am sure we will get the first two, not sure about the rest though, but I hope so, specially for the swan.

Anything else I don't really mind all that much, stuff like more bears, caprines, wolverine, baboon, rhea, etc. is pretty much a given considering their popularity and easy implementation, I just hope the oddballs they add turn out to be good, like the quokka was. A few more reptiles (ahem sulcata ahem) would be greatly appreciated as well, even a Nile crocodile would be appreciated too...

On other side I still have hopes for birds dropping this winter (not last) so the DLCs for next year can keep expanding upon birds instead of having regular exhibit animals or random walkthrough species (of which we don't really have that many solid options left that aren't birds, just flying squirrels if anything, which honestly would prefer if were habitat animals and had a special enrichment to play their glide animation instead)

Looking at some of the comments, it genuinely concerns me that people seem utterly unwilling to face the reality that support is finite. The game is going to end.
I really do not like this finite and absolute conclusions. And somehow I really do not enjoy threads Like this anymore as we are always at the same Point since two years. And as everybody fears the end I have that feeling that some people cannot enjoy new Packs as they fear since more than 2 years that this could be the final pack and their favourite animals have No Chance anymore. Yes, PZ Like every other game is going to an end. When is always the question. And nobody knows when this will happen. It could be after December, in 6 months, 12 months or 18 or 24 months.
At the Moment I would also speculate a support ending with Christmas DLC 2024 seems lilely but I would not write it as it sounds definitive. There are surely possibilities PZ Support could go further even with a new Planet Game. As far as I know we even do Not know If this new Planet Game will be already Planet Coaster 2 or a brandnew brand. A new Brand lile Planet Cities or Planet Football for example would have an unsure success in my opinion which would rise the possibilities of keeping safer Brands. Also a smaller Team only making animal Packs with only really minor Updates would be a possibility. But it ends when it ends. I am happy about every Pack we will get in the future and I am also out of making myself crazy about any animal decisions.

I do not fear the end of support for pz, but that is because I know the community will keep the game alive by other means.

No game lives forever, and Frontier can only do so much before they move to the next ip of their franchise.

Yes, PZ Like every other game is going to an end.
You just did it yourself.
And nobody knows when this will happen.
Of course not. But there are comments and posts, here and elsewhere, which seem to be in full denial that the game has an end date, as though it will go on forever and ever so long as we just keep buying DLC. It doesn't work that way.
At the Moment I would also speculate a support ending with Christmas DLC 2024 seems lilely but I would not write it as it sounds definitive.
If we line up with Planet Coaster, which is our only real example of a game in this franchise, then support could end at any moment without warning - Coaster dropped the Ghostbusters DLC in June, the first quarter of the financial year. From an outside perspective, that makes no sense. The only hint (in hindsight) that the end was coming was the announcement of Planet Zoo, and the fact that the last Coaster DLC was bigger than previous ones had been.

So, you know, if the next DLC or the one after that or the one after that has more content than we're used to by some measure, start sweating.

This is where it kind of drops into fantasy-land. Frontier isn't doing so hot - it's doubtful they have the resources to manage two series at once. As has been said, PZ being profitable on its own doesn't mean squat for the big picture.

But anyway, someone like you isn't the problem. You admit yourself that there is an end in sight. You clearly have acknowledged that one more year of support at most is as much as you're willing to hope for. It's the people who insist that even imagining an end date is "boohoo doom talk" and such nonsense that need the reality check.

Finally:
I have that feeling that some people cannot enjoy new Packs as they fear since more than 2 years that this could be the final pack
Two years ago there were cooler heads cautioning against assuming the end was nigh. Those same people are now the ones cautioning that it's time to start considering it. From what I can recall, it's actually gone the opposite way. All the people "doomposting" two years ago are the ones now hellbent on silencing discussion about support ending, and the ones who didn't think support was ending two years ago are now the ones acknowledging that the game has had a pretty good life so far and will probably wrap up in the forseeable future. I really do not understand why you or anyone else would take issue with that - it hurts no one to admit that the game's lifespan has exceeded all expectations, and that the odds of more than another year or so are slimmer now than ever before (because they are).

We've had great content. We have a great roster of animals. Yeah, we're obviously missing a handful of highly-requested species, a few key species, and the gaping hole that is flying birds, but a lot of that (except flying birds, that's dead in the water) can be covered in two or three more packs if Frontier does it right. This isn't an admission of panic, or some melodramatic apocalyptic scenario, it's a very rational view of things.

I would sign your Packs and would take the First of the big Last Pack. Birthday presents would be Sloth Bear and Grey Crowned Crane as my proposal. So we would have all Bear species and the Grey Crowned Crane would surely not be a Bad decision for that 🙂.

This seems fun!

1- 5 More birds (hopefully). Secretary bird, grey crowned crane, rock hopper penguin, another pheasant, and, please please please, a duck.

6 - 9 Two more bears and two more cats. ABB and spectacled, pallas cat and serval or ocelot.

10 - 14 Primates. Maybe I'm being overly hopeful, but I really hope we see one more old world monkey plus a baboon (or baboon adjacent gelada), spider monkey, howler monkey, and squirrel monkey.

15 - 25 Hoofstock. Dwarf goat, takin, markhor, blackbuck, nilgai, musk ox, dikdik, gerenuk, wild boar, peccary

26 - 31 Odd balls. Hyrax, coati, North American porcupine, spurred tortoise, saiga (I'm still holding out hope for a snuffle nose)
Well, a swan instead of a duck (still mighty pleased), a bear (though not a predicted one), a tortoise (exhibit, but I'm counting it), both piggies, takin, and my beloved snufflenose. =D

From my Hope and also actual thinking with a further full year with a larger final Pack in December I could see 31-35 animals (2 Scenery, 1animal Pack + anniversary + 12-16 animals final Pack).
Prediction:
Mountain Scenery
Markhor
Gelada
Spectacled Bear
Pallas Cat
Any exhibit

I think it is a mixture of animals I want to see and some which are not high on my own list but eventually fit for Frontier and some which are high on the lists here.
Everything will not happen, perhaps even less Packs. The only thing I am pretty sure about is that a further SA focused Pack will appear. One very popular I skipped and it was the Tree Kangaroo. I really would Like to See it but I have some doubts that it will work very Well with the Game mechanics.

I will have to think about this. There are so many animals i want that fitting them into a couple of DlCs is borderline impossible, specially if i want to keep it somewhat realistic so i don't blew up My expectations.

That said i feel there are a couple of animals i feel are very likely:

1. The remaining bears: given they've chosen the less asked for of the bears to give it to use first i think is likely that in 2024 we'll see the two that are most asked for. Spectacled bear and ABB.
2. Another waterfowl: could be either a duck OR a pelican. The swan rig, ofc adapted, could be a good base for those.
3. Markhor/Musk ox: they seemed like a very odd omisión in this pack in favour of the bear. Maybe it had to do with the complaints about ungulate heavy rosters, or it could be that they are saving them for a true mountain / tundra pack.
4. At least one new world monkey. We know they listen to our wishes and this one has been a long standing request. Two would be great but i feel like we are going to get at least one.
5. Southamerican / Central american animal: i think is obvious that besides birds they are the most requested animals at this point. Coati is high in metawishlist so expect to see it, ocelot is an easy to make cat (and they love cats) and rhea is the only big ratite missing and it has risen in demand.
6. An african croc: they keep avoiding them apparently. Maybe because people were tired of crocodilians but not having a croc for the continent they are most famous for ( and at that the most famous species) seems deliverate. Maybe they are waiting for the croc hate yo die down lol maybe as anniversary animal.
7. Hamadryas Baboon / Tree kangaroo / Secretary bird: i'm doubtful of these trío making it in. They are all three very demanded by the community but the last two required unique rigs and lots of work and the first one i think is not that kid friendly or appealing to general audiences of that makes sense. Lacks the cuteness factor and has the problematic red butt and scary features.
8. Meme animals: Palla's cat, walrus, sea otter, honey badger. All recognizable for the general audience, all with Big internet presence/exposure. Two of them very cute. I doubt Frontier would pass on at least the first three. And now with the wolverine rig honey badger would fit just perfectly.

I'll try to come up with a roster of animals / DLCs that could fit all of this in just one year but is hard lol

Other rigs like the peafowl one haven't been reused as well so i'm kind of expecting a pheasant at some point but i don't think galliformes are as likely as the rest of the animals i mentioned.

Well I predict, as was the pattern that the next three packs bring us 5+5+8=18 animals. Plus one anniversary animal is 19. If fourth pack is our last one, I'm gonna be optimistic and having in mind they like bulkier DLCs for the end, I predict scenery + animal pack (5+8=13) roster. Which all together would be 32 animals remaining. As of what those animals could be, I extracted my wishes/predictions from my recent topic:

  1. Olive Baboon
  2. Kirk's Dik-Dik
  3. Secretary Bird
  4. Serval
  5. Spider Monkey
  6. White Nosed Coati
  7. Brown Pelican
  8. Agouti
  9. Squirrel Monkey
  10. Ocelot
  11. Tamandua
  12. Short Beaked Echidna
  13. Darwin's Rhea
  14. Slender Snouted Crocodile
  15. Rock Hyrax
  16. Blackbuck
  17. Sea Otter
  18. Matchie's Tree Kangaroo
  19. Patagonian Mara
  20. Mandarin Duck
  21. Golden Pheasant
  22. Andean Bear
  23. Perentie
  24. Pacific Walrus
  25. Southern Pudu
  26. De Brazza's Guenon
  27. Egyptian Goose
  28. Red Headed Agama/African Rock Python (E)
  29. Plumed Basilisk (E)
  30. Tuatara (E)
