Technically that already happened (the universal limpet controller lets you launch 8 concurrent limpets instead of the existing research limpet controller which only supports 1) and I suspect it's a big reason why things are currently as they are.a higher-grade research limpet controller would be the big war winner anyway.
A first look at the NEW THARGOID The Scythe! It's a new Hunter-class ship with a purpose different to anything we've seen before. What do we know about it so far?
What exactly is its purpose? This is what we need to discover
- The Scythe is a new hunter-class vessel arriving in Update 16.
- It has a very different purpose and behaviour within the ranks of the Thargoid fleet to the Glaive.
- When you come across the Scythe, learning how it selects its targets is key to understanding its intent as it’s not like any traditional combat vessel that you’ve encountered before.
- In addition to the number of tools we know the Thargoids have, it has new weapons that make it a very specialised vessel with a singular sinister objective.

Please, please don't make "deus ex machina" situation where Thargoids will start winning the war again. Do not waste playerbase effort...
That works on the principle that anything is better than nothing. Frontier appear to be trying to disprove that proposition.why would that be preferable to a game state that is entirely new because the thargoids won?
Well, it definitely will not be Vegan!I wonder what Thargoid honey tastes like...
... Humans.I wonder what Thargoid honey tastes like...
Well, it definitely will not be Vegan!
And should go well with Kumo Burgers <ninja'ed Rubbernuke>
Well, that joke's on them, certainly. drifts around in utter confusion, refusing to ask directionsI don't mind the Thargoids collecting humans and harvesting their brains to build ship naviation computers.
Honestly I think it's more of a meme from Star citizen ship names. So it's called the scythe because it harvest... us.
Or - at least - cobble together more useful versions of existing hulls with better weapon convergence, speed, etc. Most of the old ships are extremely limited and in the context of Thargoid activity are completely useless.
What ship do you fly anti xeno with?
War always ramps up technology and so for humanity to not have crafted any new hulls specifically to counter the bugs is totally ludicrous, LUDICROUS!
Or - at least - cobble together more useful versions of existing hulls with better weapon convergence, speed, etc.
...
All of those should be simple hull variants with some compromise due to bigger thrusters / increased power drain / etc …
True … but better that than nothing, right?!And no-one ever complained about "new" ships being mere variants of existing ones.
Or - at least - cobble together more useful versions of existing hulls with better weapon convergence, speed, etc.
How many Mk”s of Hurricane and Spitfire were created during WWII? Yet Core Dynamics have made ZERO improvements to their ships despite being the primary / premium supplier to the Federal Navy?!!
- Faster Corvette
- FAS with more Utility slots
- Vulture with 4x C2 slots instead of 2xC3
All of those should be simple hull variants with some compromise due to bigger thrusters / increased power drain / etc …
The Vulture variant sounds intriguing. It's hard to know what's more ridiculous though, the total lack of new ships or variants during the war... or the fact that while the human race populates something in the region of 20,000 star systems there are only FIVE ship manufacturers in existence.
The what now?The Vulture variant sounds intriguing.
