Patch Notes Fleet Carriers Update - Patch 4 Patch Notes

The latest patch still hasn't addressed the Orange Sidewinder issues, roughly 608 FCs in Laksak at the weekend and you couldn't get into SC ... 340k Ls from the entry star meant a 15-20 minute SC if you jump out and jump back in. Game play ruined there.

Orange Sidewinder

Just complete restart game including launcher. U can skip await. It does small lag once undocked, then 100% orange sw coming. Kill game client and run scratch. And launcher.

Frontier is having a live stream Thursday, and the guests will be DSSA folks. Popcorn time :)

Nah, I'm sure it will be a civilized discussion 😄

Yes, exactly. If your carrier is parked in a system with no population it cannot make money from NPCs while you're offline as there is no local demand for the commodities it holds.

Similarly to prevent disruption of existing inter-system trade mechanisms (presuming they exist) NPCs from outside the system will not interact with the carrier. It's ONLY local stations that should trade. This means you actually have to do something to complete a trading run (jump from source to destination system, reset your commodity market to make sales etc).

It therefore can become a better way to make money by not mining, but rather jumping to systems in Boom, setting a nice low buy price and letting NPCs fill your carrier, before jumping it to a system that needs those commodities.

In fluff terms you could say the carrier registers with a local Nav beacon on arrival in a system.

I don’t believe NPCs actually interact in any financial way with carriers currently.

I’ve had 200+ NPC landings on my carrier in a single day but not 1CR change in my balance or unit change in my hold.

If you check what FDev answered on 1st stream about carriers "what should explorers do?", they said - just leave in bubble. So it is by design. Leave carrier in Deciat and go to Void for 6 months :D

Where can I find recorded video of this stream and does anyone know what timestamp should I set to find this answer?

Thanks in advance.

Yeah, sorry, I mean NPC stations / markets in the sames system, not necessarily the individual ships (as those are instance-local and I think do not exist in the overal simulation).

Update - 28.07.20

Due to an issue found during testing, the date of this patch has been moved to Monday 3 August. It can still be expected at 11:00 UTC with an estimated 15 minutes downtime. Thanks for your understanding!

Greetings, Commanders!

Sorry, folks it is still broken. I hope it can be fixed.

We're pleased to confirm that the patch described in our Known Issues post from earlier this week is expected this Wednesday 29 July at 11:00 UTC with an estimated 15 minutes of downtime. Please find the Patch Notes and Known Issues below:

Patch Notes

Mining
  • Fixed an issue whereby surface deposits created after cracking a motherlode would flag themselves as depleted
  • Fixed issues related to diminishing returns for commodities in overlapping hotspots

Crashes and Stability
  • Fixed an issue where loading into an instance in a system with a large amount of Fleet Carriers would cause very long load times (potentially long enough to cause a disconnect)

Fleet Carriers
  • Fixed an issue which stopped Fighters being restocked from a Fleet Carrier
  • Fixed a number of issues related to Fleet Carrier positioning:
    • Better enforcement of the 16 carrier limit per body
    • Preventing departing Fleet Carriers from taking up one of the 16 slots from the body they've just left
    • Further work to ensure Carriers are positioned away from other nearby body sites, such as other Fleet Carriers

Known Issues

Fleet Carriers
  • When opening the Fleet Carrier naming pop up in the Livery, an additional unwanted character will be added to the start and end of the name. These characters will need to be manually deleted to prevent them being included.

Please note that the above notes are liable to change as adjustments are made and changes are added or removed. Tweaks may be made up until the time of launch.

Thanks as always for your continued feedback!

Yeh, that didn't work for me ... tried rebooting, tried logging the entire machine out and back in / etc / etc ... I could SC out of the system, just not between sites within the same system. (and I wasn't alone. Lots of people in the system chat reporting similar issues)

The YouTube video (which is actually my video) Cmdr Redmail cites shows that there was full connectivity to at least 2 of the Frontier AWS servers at the time with no packet loss (those are the MTR windows in the foreground) and yet still, Orange Sidewinder. (see video below)

When I checked into this system within hours after the FC DUMP,, there were no FC in the system. I have Anonymized the pic because I don't want the system mobbed since it apparently has good LTD and Painite prices.

It is very interesting that there are no LTD hotspots and only 4 Painite locations in the whole system.
Also interesting that this is an EXTRACTION ECONOMY system and it has NO high value minerals for sale while it is paying above GA for the 2 it will buy.
Seriously considering transferring my Mining Pythons to this station and heading out 250+ ly to get away from the pirates and trying some mining. I made my 1B CR selling everything at less than 300,000 cr. Never saw a 400,000+ before.

On a separate note. I did a lot of testing using different internet connections and I have concluded that my ISP/Router/Modem is NOT the the reason I cannot actually get both ships into PG and Wing. It did seem that if I have the computers on different mobile hotspots using 2 phones, that it was quicker to get past the initial logging in/connecting error and I was more likely to be able to get both into PG and Wing.

________edit
As soon as I posted this I had an inspiration. I am in a planetary base so I can log in in OPEN and not have any worries.
Did it.
Both ships showed as OPEN PLAY MODE
One ship showed as OPEN in the Comm Panel and the other showed as SOLO in the Comm Panel.
The one seeing the other as SOLO was able to send a WING INVITE to them and they got it and accepted it and WING INDICATORS appeared.

Come on Frontier!!!! How did you so royally SCREW this up???

My thoughts on mining: ( over 50billion mined since it all began with the VO's )
Im 14klyrs out, in an undiscovered system with my carrier. In the ring there are a few hotspots. Tritium, VO, LTDs and a few others. None overlapping.
The first night i dropped into a VO hotspot i mined roughly 400t in 2-3hrs. It was rock after rock. Great!
The second night i dropped into an adjacent VO hotspot i mined roughly 90t in 2-3hrs and noticed the left over outlines that other miners leave behind?? what?
The third night, roughly the same as the second night. :/
The fourth night - back to 400t in 2-3hrs! ???
The fifth night, back to 90t in 2-3hrs :/
The sixth night, 90t in 2-3hrs.
The seventh night, i moved my operation to another undiscovered system with 'untouched' rings. As soon as i dropped in, there were the left over outlines that other miners leave behind.

No matter what you do, where you go, it seems FDev have put a limit on what we can actually mine.

Once you exit spot for any reason - log out / sc / jump ...all cracked rocks become dust permanent for like 3 or 6 days. And this can be seen in any mode like carrier. 4th night seems respawn is 3 days, i.e. you started to farm same rocks.

I never returned to the same spot. I target the planet and work N/S/E/W when returning. The odd thing is, even trying a fresh new hotspot or EVEN an unexplored new system and new hotspot gives the same results

Btw ... yday got cores in 2x painite spot. And SSD.
I must say painite ones are exact how it should work - you see rare yellows, most of them are what you want.
As I supposed tritium in ice rings made a mess. Mathematically it is same correct as painite, but player see 2 events at once, and total probability is multiply of those 2.

Yeh, even in-bubble recharge is tricky ...takes about 6-7 hours ....to find where to sell painite + time for runs. Next to find where to buy trit + time to runs + big stations sold out most. So full working day just exchange mined things to trit.

Subnatutica is filling my void right now. Have a few more games after that...
I have played through Torchlight II in "NORMAL" with two character classes and I am about 80% through with the 3rd.
When I finish that one I will start the 4th Class.
Then I will start through with each class In "VETERAN" to give myself a bit more difficulty.
Then, I may look at some of the Torchlight II MOD expanded scenarios.
OR
If Frontier has still not fixed EDH consider putting together a Baldur's Gate Big World package to play through.

Ive noticed the same, especially in heavily mined areas. Has the moneral level in the system map changed from when you mined ie. Pristine down to Rich or Common resources?
