News Focused Feedback Forum Content Schedule

Or just saving the best till last. [yesnod]

Imagine if they'd revealed amazing exploration content straight away and then only fleet carriers for new pew-pew content. Lol

Would be awesome...mining FF was great and improvements looks promising.

They did mining FFF after reveals from Lavecon...perhaps they'll do the same after Gamescon / PAX...hope so.

And I do hope that Chapter 4 will be a rebirth of exploration.

On the other hand...3.1 & 3.2 were so small...perhaps that the whole team is focusing on Q4 that will be huge...we still know so little about it...

Whether they're saving the best for last or not, it is still disheartening that these focused feedback forums get a good amount of Dev responses for about a week or two, then seem to get dropped like a hot turd for months on end.

I get it, the Devs are probably still reading through them and getting their heads down and working on stuff and no longer have the time to reply, but to that I say... set the community team on it? Give it to Paul? He seems to be around on the forums a fair bit, maybe he could pop his head in the FFF and give us some updates on certain topics? Maybe deal with the detail requests thread, or simply an update to say that the Devs won't be responding on here for the time being because they're too busy working on whatever. Anything.

Communication. Any communication.

I have to agree. You would think the community managers would be doing something in the FFF's. It does seem a bit strange. Not the end of the world, just a little frustrating.

Hey all! Saw my name and thought I'd drop in ;) Our dev teams are currently very hard at work but we are still planning to continue to discuss the topics raised in great detail and to return to the Focused Feedback Forums very shortly. We're hugely grateful for everything you've shared with us so far and thank you so much for your patience.

So SpacelegsItsDoomed™AtmoLandingCarrierExlorationBrightColoursQ-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9BeyondBeyondDLCP2Wyes/nomaybe confirmed?

Just compressing the fifty threads that each word of your post will create, to save time.

Initial planning was :

Squadrons : 27th of may
Mining : 17th of june
Exploration / Codex : 8th of july

Fleet Carriers FF was mentionned but no date.
That was the amended schedule.

The original estimated schedule was copy-pasta'd to Reddit:
  • Squadrons Discussion - 7th 8th May (7th was a UK Bank Holiday)
  • Mining Discussion - 28th May
  • Exploration/Codex Discussion - 18th June
Exploration/Codex Discussion looks to be at least 8 weeks later than originally estimated.

Thanks Paul

Although it might dilute it, is it possible to have all the FF threads going at once? It might lead to some cross pollination of ideas, and might highlight potential conflicts between features.

It might however end up with design team being burned out husks at the end of review process. They are people too :)

Thanks Paul. Just when it was needed :)

Not trying to argue (well, just a bit), but superficially from my AllPowerfulArmchairDesignCo™ it would have an initial work spike to start it off, and then if you staggered the feedback for each thread by a week or so you could run them together. Sort of like AudioSurf but in FF. Everyone gets the precious, pressure vented and FD get the brain patterns from the commanders.

Cool!

But I'll believe it when I see actual dev posts and content.

I would have thought that they had a seperate design team working on the different features. Also you can filter each section by just clicking the thread prefix name. So click on mining and all you will see it the mining thread. Only found this out a few weeks ago.

I am also thinking that as mining and the exploration mechanics are interlinked with the scanning of the rings they maybe waiting on finalising the mining mechanics before showing the exploration mechanics. Especially things like the ring scanning and whether the states are semi persistant and so on, as that will need to come into consideration when doing the exploration scanning mechanics.

Yeah, I think there's lot of things that goes into exploration and FD realized they might have to go much broader than they wanted before (not only mining) and thus delay. Remember Sandro hinted at reworked SS mechanism during LaveCon. That alone can delay exploration FFF considerably.

Well, anyway, can't wait :)

Thanks for the response, it is very much appreciated to know that the team are still monitoring posts in this thread despite being 40 pages deep and probably long since descended into chaos.
Gives me hope that you're also still looking at the FFF.

One criticism I have though, just the tiniest one... There's a "Detail Requests" thread in the FFF that has always on the face of it sounded like the place to get relevant questions within the scope of the proposals answered. As I mentioned, for the first couple of weeks, a few requests for details are answered, but then that just stops without warning, leading the thread to just grow and grow with questions, that never actually get answered. Personally, I think if there's any thread at all that needs to be turned over to the community managers to continue answering questions after the Dev teams themselves get all wrapped up in working, it's that one.

Because people are using the answers they get from their detail requests to formulate their feedback. If you want quality feedback, you need to keep answering requests for clarification, or even lock the thread (with explanation) if you feel like you've given all the info you're going to - not just leave it open ended. Maybe a post at the end with direct links to the Dev responses so people can find the answers to their questions?

I tried finding something here that can be regarded as information, but I'm failing to do so.

It's a very sympathetic tone, and I'm liking this Paul character already, but in all honesty, it's a lot of words saying not much at all.
Hopefully we'll get a comment: sometime soon™ ;)
Fixed that for you, and you got what you wished for :D
