Hi,

I maintain a stock of Meta-Alloys in my Fleet Carrier for new players looking to get started with engineering their ships with Felicity.

Felicity is the most useful engineer to unlock first because it will allow you to upgrade the range of your Frame Shift Drive, allowing you to jump further away at once, thereby making the rest of the engineering journey go much faster.

You will need 1 unit of Meta-Alloy which can be either:

• [Odyssey only] Meta Alloys are currently available in several Odyssey settlements: check EDDBfor the latest info (make sure to select Odyssey).

Battuta Landing 69 G. Carinae 405,297 ls 88.81 LY
  • Vasilyev's Claim Ross 692 115.5 LY
Tucker Mines Gliese 2119 177.6 LY
• bought for 200~250k in the Maia system (Surface port: Darnielle's Progress; 638 ls from Sol)
• harvested by destroying barnacles (list of sites with Thargoid Barnacles; more involved but probably more fun than "shopping")
• obtained for free from LeKeno's Fleet Carrier (parked in Deciat, near Felicity's base; max convenience, lowest barrier to entry)

What: free meta-alloys to new players who want to unlock Felicity without the trek to Maia or the Barnacles sites.
Where:

• Supply: Deciat, LeKeno's Fleet Carrier (callsign: B6J-0HZ), 6A near Farseer Inc.
• Demand: Hyades Sector AQ-Y d81, LeKen0's Fleet Carrier (callsign: V5H-2HB), C 2 near the Barnacles Forest (9.2937, -153.9101; 6 meta-alloys per relog), equipped with SRV hangars, cargo racks, Type 6-7-9 ships.

When: until the stock runs out, on a first come / first serve basis.
How: read the steps below (optional but highly recommended in blue)

1. You likely don't have an engineered ship with proper shield defenses. So, consider flying in solo / private mode because Deciat can be very dangerous in Open at certain hours (e.g. it's not rare to have a full wing of end-game PvPer ganking other players from above, killing things in 30 seconds or less, without ever being at risk of getting destroyed by the station's weak guns).
2. Reply to this thread, and mention your commander name if it differs from your forum name. That way, I will know the reason for an incoming friend request / squadron application.
3. On your right hand side panel, select SQUADRONS, search for "GFMA" (Giving Free Meta Alloys) squadron, and apply for membership.
   • [Alternative for PC players only] If you can't or don't want to temporarily join the GFMA squadron, send a friend request in-game to LeKeno.
4. For much easier coordination: join my Discord server or send me a Discord friend request at LeKeno#8484.
5. Via Private Message or Discord, coordinate with LeKeno for a time and day. Or, if you see me online / in-game, ping me.
6. Head to Deciat, Deciat 6 (planet with Farseer). Land on LeKeno's Fleet Carrier (callsign: B6J-OHZ) with a ship that has at least 1 free cargo space.
7. Take a screenshot/picture of your right hand side panel with ranks, credits and rebuy costs to confirm that you are a new player. Share that screenshot with LeKeno, via private message or over discord.
8. Wait until LeKeno tells you that the price has been adjusted to the lowest possible (i.e. ~9k credits). Note: the carrier will be locked down to Friends and/or Squadron members as a protection against a potential heist while the price is reduced.
9. Buy 1 unit (don't be greedy, think about other players), and say "done" over chat or discord.
10. Donate the meta alloy to Felicity at Farseer to unlock her services.

This might feel like a lot of steps but setting a sell order at the lowest price AND avoiding entrepreneurial traders grabbing the whole stock requires some coordination. If folks have ideas on how to further streamline the process or if there are potential holes, leave a comment

Going and getting your own MA is one of the most interesting tasks for a newcomer giving them a first glimpse of alien tech.
"Hassle" ? I guess if they dont want to experience the best bits of the game, then sure, its a great idea.

Yeah, someone's favorite thing in the game can be someone else's least favorite thing in the game.
I offer another option for those who want it.

When I did it, if I recall correctly, the Meta Alloys were only available via the barnacles. I did that and enjoyed it but some folks might not.

I have Exploration rang "Pathfinder".

Same thing is happening on multiple Carriers I found that are selling Meta-Alloys. They are selling it. They have it in storage. But when I click it to buy it open new window and add it to my cargo but clicking on + doing nothing.

For getting Meta-Alloys my self on planet sites I give up, cose all the sites I visited are scammers or empty.

Why I can't buy meta-alloys?

No, your combat (or whatever) rank has nothing to do with what you can buy or not.

I don't know. I'm new to Elite Dangerous and Horizon. I'm a big fan of Elite. I was playing it a lot back in 1984 and then Privateer.. etc.. I'm now exited to see this version But it's insane!!!

How can I check?
In case I am, how can I correct this and finally get meta-alloy, cos it's driving me crazy.

OK, I checked... I'm not hostile, I'm not wanted or something, with the Controling faction and I'm not member of any Power in (PowerPlay).

Glad to hear that you found some.

If I put the stock on sale (at minimum price) to anyone, then I'm sure that some entrepreneurial commander will buy the whole stock and sell it for a profit.
I'd prefer that the stock goes to help new players.

My current approach is as follow:
1. Have the new commander temporarily join my squadron (EDRC, EDRecon.com)
2. Find a day/time that's convenient for both of us
3. On that day/time, flip access to the fleet carrier to Squadron members only and put on sale the meta-alloys for the cheapest price possible.
4. Count on folks being honest and only buy 1 unit
5. Have them leave the squadron, remove the sale order, and flip the carrier back to "anyone can land"

If folks have ideas on how to improve this, I'm all ears.

One thing that was suggested to me was to put the stock on sale at the max price as another option for new commanders who prefer a self-served system and don't mind paying instead of dealing with logistics. It's still possible that a nefarious player would buy the whole stock and destroy it or sell it at a loss though...

Since folks can only join one squadron at a time, maybe just (or alternatively) get them added as friends - then you can set the carrier to accept friends only (or squadron and friends) for the transaction period as you stated. - Just a thought.

Not sure you meant it this way but this idea has nothing to do with how dangerous Deciat is.

Deciat in open is dangerous because it's the first engineer that new players would want to go unlock, and their unengineered ship combined with the lack of experience, and bearings make them easy targets for gankers.

Perhaps an alternative then is to have them join your private group and only offer up your MA when in that PG mode. No seal-clubbers then for the newbies to avoid. With FC being persistent across modes (and platforms?) though am not sure how useful that would be.
