Frontier: give the FSD to ALL players, regardless of whether they took part or not

You forgot: Those that went to work at 75%, and came home to a completed CG outside of 75%. It ended so fast.

I don't think we should get one for free, but we should be able to get one through engineering. This one is far more potent than the missile rack. It's a pretty huge advantage.
You're right of course.

Another one is those that took part in only one of the two CGs - with hindsight they potentially could have finished in the top 75% of both.

Also people with multiple accounts.

I like your solution.

I was top 10% for trade and top 25% for combat and honestly at this point I feel like this is probably the most fair thing to do.

They have screwed up so much that this should just be made available to everyone at this point, while still providing some extra reward for the original top 25% people. Something that’s nice but not exclusive, like a paint job or something similar.

They should also learn a lesson from this and stop with the exclusive rewards. Sure, give out unique rewards, but make them available for others afterwards in some other ways. Make it difficult to get sure, but stop making things absolutely exclusive.
I think the best approach was with the AX weapons CG where they became available on the market to purchase. That being said, I didn't participate in CG (couldn't get to my PC all weekend) so wouldn't expect to be rewarded.

The flaw in your logic is you're too narrow minded to realize that a lot of people busted their asses to get in the Top 25% when they could have literal done less than 1/10 of work to get the same reward. I killed over 25 Thargoids to get in the Top 25%, All I needed was just 1 to make the top 75%. Before this event I only killed one, and that one was hard earned. I haul 16K tons - 2/3 straight from the bubble. One, just one full load trip in my Type 9 would have putme into the top 75% for the trade CG. To drop it down to 75% is a complete slap in my face and cheapens the effort I put into these CGs. What you're suggesting is another slap.
Actually I do realise that - I'm one of those people too.

But their undoing of their own rules is a slap in the face to many other players. Obviously they can't change it back to 25%. All they can do now is chuck free stuff at people, with those in the top 25% getting more than the rest.

This thread is granting wishes?
Im overwhelmed... what to choose.....

ok.... I wish for a date with Mary Elizabeth Winstead and World Peace.
Ive already sent my Christmas list to Santa this year, December is going to be a bumper month!!
Well, for my own reasons, I couldn't do this CG at all this time.

Should I get a free over-engineered FSD?

No.

Even if I had done this CG I would I have gotten into the top 25%?

Probably not.

Tough luck for me I suppose.

And since I don't believe in Santa I don't suppose I'll get one shoved down the chimney of my nearest fleet carrier.

I'll wait for another CG, try my hardest to prevail and get whatever that CG has to offer.

I just couldn't put the time into this particular CG, this time. Too bad for me I don't get the gold this time.

Onwards and upwards.

o7!

What about the men and women in the street who don't have Elite Dangerous, or even a computer? They should receive the reward too.
No, because none of them will have lost out as a result of FD's changes to the competition's rules after the event.

While implicit in my post, I'll make it clear that since FD can't determine which players did lose out, the only way they can put it right is to give the thing to everyone that may have.

You have - inadvertently I'm sure - penalised all those players that played by YOUR rules.

Many of them are now effectively worse off. Specifically:

1. Those that didn't bother to enter the CG as they knew they wouldn't have the time to reach the top 25%.
2. Those that entered but quit before 75% for the same reason.

If you are interested in being perceived to be fair (actually, just being fair!), and if you want to retain confidence, you should hand it out to everyone, and give the top 25% a paintjob or something, so at least their effort is rewarded.
Ha ha.

Seriously. Ha ha.

So, in a previous thread, Frontier gives in after feedback from the community, i.e.

o7 Commanders,

Pilots who aided the Alliance in the previous Community Goal have now been awarded a fully engineered Grade 5 Fast Boot and Increased Range Frame Shift Drive.

The bracket has been increased from the top 25% of contributors to the top 75% following your feedback!

And now in this thread, some contend that because of Frontier's generosity over a poorly sponsored CG, that those who did not participate are also "entitled"?

As well, some here have questioned Frontier's giveaway of soley "exclusive" items as rewards, reiterating those exclusive rewards should also be made available to all.

Frankly, it seems when Frontier does something out of generosity, some in the community push for more. When Frontier offers an exclusive reward for a purchase or participation in an event, some in the community seem offended or deprived. Then relentless threads start over these issues, with all manner of reasons for or against these entitlements or exclusivity.

How petty can you be.

Very rarely, if ever, has anyone in this community, in any thread I have read in six plus years, said "Thank You, Frontier" or "It's Appreciated, Frontier" for anything Frontier has done for the community and not many here have shown any gratitude what-so-ever.

I did not participate in the CG and I don't deserve the item. But that does not mean I am not thankful for Frontier's generous offer had I chose to participate. Frontier's generosity also extends to ARX, which I also appreciate and thank Frontier for.

There will always be those who want something for nothing, those who believe they are entitled, and those who believe they are exclusive.

I'm just not one of them.

So, THANK YOU FRONTIER, for the ARX, the Cobra IV, the Eagle, the FSD, the Black Friday Paintjob, the Azure Paintjob, the Free Horizons, the Free Elite Dangerous with Horizons, and all the other things I cannot remember right now.

Oh, Seven....

Which bit of "If you didn't take part in the CG then you are not entitled to the reward" is hard for you to understand?
Frontier set the bar at 25%, then lowered it to 75%, that alone is very generous. They didn't have to do that, and could have left it at 25%.
For people to ask Frontier for more is simply greedy and entitled.

tbh, I love the idea of giving Rewards only to those that earned them.

In the past, you could be a 100% passive bystander - and still reap in "Global Rewards" all the time.
Dunno, would feel unfair when comparing i.e. me doing absolutely nothing (missing the whole thing) and suddenly finding free stuff in my Storage or reaping in benefits for something I never lifted a finger for.

Folks hauling in xx.xxx tons of stuff or grinding the CG otherwise did a lot of work, so I applaud them getting properly rewarded, especially (which btw. was one of my very own old CG Rewards suggestions) with things that go beyond boring ol' Credits.

If anything, interesting Rewards coupled to CGs might be better off being advertised ahead of time, so folks can prepare themselves if they're interested and be on location when it starts.
I fully understand some very interested folks being surprised and ending up being unable to join in time due to fast completion.

This "advertise sexy stuff ahead of time" should greatly help getting everyone onboard as much as possible.
CGs come and go - but if there's 1 out of 10 that offers something of great interest, folks not closely following CGs all the time have a chance to pick up the chatter and move in.
