General / Off-Topic Game of Thrones

I've not noticed this. Many people who have not read the books seem to be enjoying the series without getting confused.

And I'm happy that they are not including everything, especially as the "fluff" in the books 4 and 5 will be only more prominent.

I have had to look at the online family tree several times to figure out who someone is as they bring them in without any warning or explanation. ( I assume this is why they have it available)

I will have to do it again before next week so I can refresh my memory.

When they introduced Stannis, I could of been watching a completely different program, I had no idea who he was or what he was doing with the witch until a later point when it became obvious ,I think they were assuming you already knew.

I could bring up so many points like this , but I do realise that it has to be cut for television.

Don't get me wrong though, I do think it is very good, just can be tricky to follow.

Hehe, that's one character twist that GRRM did very nicely. Although I cannot help but remember that he tossed that poor kid off the tower early on. Not everything is forgivable.

Yeah lol but since we found out that he is still about a million in the plus on his "lives saved / loves taken" karma account, he can do almost anything :p

I think that's the strength of the writing, he's done TWO despicable things. Incest and throwing kids out of windows. And he's STILL one of the nicest people around at this point. I actually seriously root for him now. Which makes me sad.

defenestrated a kid". Never miss an opportunity to use that word!

(I know that I did, and I'm ashamed of myself... :( )

I'll wash your mouth out with soap if you continue to use word like that!!!!

I really enjoyed the 1st episode of S4 though.

And Season 5&6 have been confirmed as well. :D :D

Let's hope, for a change, they make a bunch of changes from the books because book 4* (so far, I can't seem to finish it) is really, really dull!

*Series 3 & 4 are based on book 3.... because it was a bloody good one with too much for one series!

Enjoyed the 1st book and started to read the 2nd but got distracted and lost the plot.

I'll probably wait until the series has finished and then read them al in one go.

Book 5 continues in the same vein, unfortunately. Endless travel descriptions etc. ensue.

It bears to be remembered that books 4 and 5 did not exist in GRRM's original plan. They are additions that he only decided to write when he realised that he could not jump 15 years in the story without too many "flashback" scenes in the next book. So we got books 4 and 5 consisting of those flashbacks (and lots of filling, it seems).

In the TV series they dropped the need for the 15 year jump by starting the characters at an older age (the Stark children, mainly), so they don't need too many years to grow up into adults.

Get a thoroughly boring job and listen to the audio books. That's what I did, and I really enjoyed them.

Spoiler tags for spoilers... for realsies :)
Blimey, George seems to have a real neurosis about weddings! While I delight in the death of Joffrey, it didn't look quite excruciating enough:p!

For those who haven't read the serie, I'm sure that there are many that are overjoyed by this turn of events. For those who have read the serie, the scene does not quite do justice to the mental image of reading the deed :)

Just another awesome episode! I'd been looking forward to this one for a long time, but now cant wait to see the next few!! Why do we have to wait a whole nother week for it?? :(
