ANNOUNCEMENT Gamescom Reveals - Fleet Carrier Details

Let's see. The Fleet carriers, as Imski noted, should have been pretty much ready at this point, given that they were promised oh so long ago. And even if not released, they could at least as he noted "Just give a list with some facts and everyone will be happy. Rough cost, what can they do, how to fuel etc. All things they should have finalized since last fall at least."

But sure, go off on a rant about entitlement. Hard to imagine that typing up a list of some facts or providing information (or doing something interesting like going behind the scenes in the development) is asking too much. I think most of us write emails at home, even during this global pandemic. The devs have been notoriously bad at communicating for years now - so defending them while being 'holier than though' is what I was calling out.

I'm Imski can I have a link to where I said that please?

I honestly can't see FDev producing any content this year, next year or ever that produces engaging gameplay if the current game is not engaging.

I'm currently engaged. I'm waiting for FCs and New Era, sure, but I'm currently engaged with the existing content. Are FDev going to produce an update that radically changes the whole basis of the game? Why would they do that?

As to why we haven't heard anything yet, go look up the "Osborn Effect". Making too many pronouncements too soon kills sales.

If she dies you can either mummify her or soak her in oil and cremate her! 8D

Or give her a viking funeral by sending her out on a ship and lighting her on fire with a flaming arrow. That is the safest as now air particles from the fire get in anyones lungs! 🙃

You are purposefully missing the point of what he is saying so you can ride in on your white horse of superiority. This isn't the first delay - the game has not seen material updates in a VERY LONG TIME. That is why people are upset - not only that we don't have the update - but they don't even have the courtesy to provide us with an update on dates and when we can expect things (or if they are again delayed), a game roadmap, etc. Anything to keep this game from slowly dying as it has been since the last major update.

So get off your horse, and see what he's actually trying to say rather than self-congratulating yourself and the devs for being such good humans. Cheers.

How in god's name do you imagine they are going to know what might happen in terms of dates etc? The situation is changing so fast people don't even know what's going to happen tomorrow.

At the start of this week I was commuting to my office as normal. Four days later I'm working from home for an indeterminate period of time, public transport is being restricted from Monday, all businesses in the hospitality sector have been told to close from tonight and the country is moving to what is basically a war footing only (for now at least) without anybody actually shooting people. The situation is changing daily and the period between now and the most-recently anticipated release date of FCs (which was by the end of June) is literally the period during which the outbreak is expected to reach its peak.

Just get real mate seriously.

Edit: Ian, that's as nice as I can do at the moment, hope it's good enough.

Since the Fleet Carriers are destined for release in the 2nd quarter, A quiet release the morning of April 1st would be fitting for this ganglion of neurons.
First Beta on April the 1st with FCs priced in fish release last week of June after all bug fixes and subsequent Betas have concluded.

You know, they could really just tell us about;

A general idea of cost.
A general idea of what is up with the fuel.
A general idea of can we store stuff.
A general idea of if certain rank MIGHT be required (so we have a goal to work on).
Really, just an addressing of the simple generalities would go quite a ways.

and for fun, what the true overall size is. Perhaps whether store stuff will be available for it and what that might be.

The date is less important (so to speak).

Considering current internet overloads around the globe, playing anything online in a month, might be academic anyway. It's a big bottle of Corona and we all have to take a drink.
Stay healthy my friends.

I'm worried like every one. I have a 77 year old father, that I'm especially worried for. Still I'm expected to do my job, from homeoffice, but still. And unless they are already ill, I guess FDEV are expected to do that too.

I said right at the launch they needed an Offline mode, but did David listen? No, he didn't, telling me that everything would be fine
*"Everything's going to be just fine Pe Skip" he said, adding... "and we'll likely have Fleet Carriers in 2018 2019 2020 or sometime after that... We'd like that, so don't worry!"

*Excerpt taken from a conversation in my kitchen with my mate Dave... the Plasterer, he plays too, sometimes
