General Criticism Thread

sandbox has been heavily implied. Having said that, size restrictions just offer you challenge. We know that Sorna at least is around the size of the biggest available in PC, Nublar I imagine isn't far behind. Tacano and Pena both seem smaller than Matanceras but I imagine there's a good reason linked to the story/ And who's to say the story even requires a park on those two islands? yeah they have 5 star ratings but it might be judged differently, maybe it focuses on the hybrid project (I believe that was suggested as being locked until island 3) and breeding in general

Having said that from what I've seen and judging on the size of the buildings, Matanceras doesn't actually look that small. Clearing trees means you could easily fit the innovation centre, a number of shops etc and a power station for them over by the monorail. And that starting exhibit is massive, we've already seen there's ample space for 3 to 4 herbivore species in there with around 3-5 dinos per species. Truth be told, it's only really the carnivores you want separate exhibits for so while you won't get all 40 dinos on that island (unless you're cruel and have them lined up like battery hens) you'll get more than enough dinos in there to satisfy that 5 star rating

In the video I saw, the paddock that is pre-made in the demo fills a massive chunk of the island. If I can only have like 6 paddocks on an island, it just isn't enough. especially since they're blocking most of the island with an invisible wall.

I really think my views would be different if I had not watched the teaser they did way back. The environment and the Trex blew my mind. The way it broke out and went after the workers and the Parasauralophus was amazing. I know it wasn’t in game footage but I had those images in my mind. So when I saw the demo they did I was kinda like , where is everything I saw earlier. I guess I just had too high of expectations. I’m still going to pre order because I haven’t seen anything like this since JPOG and I’m a dinosaur nut. A Dino and sim fan will love this game but not sure how others will take it. Anyway can’t wait until June and if it fails there is always the next 10 or so years lol.

Well they clearly stated from the beginning that the teaser wasnt ingame footage, so at least they were honest to us from the start.

This is a AAA game and it's still in with these titles that they have CG trailers to rev up hype.

Expecting the kind of look from the teaser for the actual game is clearly unrealistic since no high end gaming rig would be able to run it with that level of detail.

I absolutely have no complaints with the look and graphics of the actual ingame footage though, it's even better looking than i imagined and the dinosaurs move and feel like they've been taken directly from the movies imo, i'm even going to build a new gaming rig for this to enjoy it at maximum settings.

Hi all!

The recent showoff of the gameplay and new trailer have been totally awesome and the team is doing a marvelous job.

It's one of the few games i'm actually excited about again after a long time.

With all this positivity around rn we still need to be careful about having on these rose tinted glasses, so i've come to make this thread to have a discussion about legit criticism about the game, since we all know a perfect game doesn't exist (yes even JPOG had its flaws), so aslong as the game isnt finished yet, there might be a chance the devs will listen to the community on possible improvements.

That's why i'd like to have a discussion about constructive criticism aswell, so please use this thread to get off your chest what nitpicks you so far.

To start things off, here are a few things i've noticed that i'm at least a bit concerned about and hope are still fixed in one way or another:

- Visitors seems lifeless, and uninteractive, it doesn't seem like you can click on them and show their thoughts and emotions (like JPOG did f.e.) but seem to be unindividual (like the audiences in racing games), which is a bit off turning when they are being chased by large carnivores, breaking immersion

- No day and night cycles have been confirmed, but instead having different islands at different day and night times

- Terraforming and sandbox are nowhere to be seen (building an individual island from scratch, building mountains, etc)

- Not a single drop of blood or mild gore, which have been always present in the JP franchise, even JPOG had it with a T rating (remember TLW movie Eddie getting torn apart by two T-rexes, or the Trex waterfall scene?), we've seen both humans and goats getting eaten and it just seems like they simply disappear, breaking immersion (perhaps have an option to turn on/off blood or have some sort of dlc for it and give that a higher age rating)

- Denuvo, making modding impossible (still possible steamworkshop?)

- Ranger Helicopters and Jeeps take no damage, which also breaks immersion and takes of any kind of danger for the player being in that insert third person mode

- Some kind of retro mode with old JP-style buildings have yet to be shown, same with aquatic and airbound dinos (might be in, might be DLC, we dont know yet)

- A visitor mode would've been nice

Man please add AI's Behaviors on the list because it had bunch of issues that need to be improve before it release and for my opinion its the real main issue since Jurrasic franchise should be about dinos,
like:

- Individual dinos AI behaviors ( they seems weird when they run little bit then just stop their move immediately , over and over again or when herbivores completly ignore the predators around them even if it the dangerous one to their species, Struthios v carnos for exams ).

- Hunting behaviors (when predators supposed to be hunt but herbivores got a 'brain freeze' and not even to try to escape their precious life so it got killed easliy by it ).

- Herds behaviors (they just look in herds but not actually 'move in herds' or have herds mentally like in the franchise. For exams: I want to see Gallimimus run in herds like in JP1 when they'r got chased by Rexy or like on Gallimimus scene on Gallimimus valley like in JW or Hadrosaurid herds try to move away from Raptors pack like in JP3).

- Fighting Behaviors (its kinda old way to see dinos fighting each other with ' bite per bite' style like back in JPOG before one of them run (the champions not even try to chase the lossers ) or trigger the killing animation. I want to see some simple but creative way animation during the fight animation like in Spino v Rex in jp3 or Indo v Rexy , Blue in JW).

also it will be good if they improve the guests AIs behaviors and skin (like, come on..!! even scienties wont wear lab coats during vacation ).

I know if i ask much but since this game had a lot potential and still need to be improved, then not doubt that Frontier can do the task.

I know. My expectations were too high. Technology is moving so fast I thought for a bit that they actually were able to do it. I bet you in maybe a few years or so they can make it happen.

You underestimated the power of frontier, man.. and you not even on higher ground!

Okay, i finally have one, very real criticism finally.

That talbot character might be a really poor choice as lead anchor in the story (at least for the parts we've seen). While he fits with the tone of jurassic WORLD.. it pretty much p*&*& off any jurassic PARK in my head.

In the movies that guy was the main human antagonist.. its a really odd choice to use that character type as the connecting anchor between malcom and the 3 divisions. He was designed to annoy you. If he doesn't get eaten by the time the game moves to the second island....
