gortkill - I think one thing that needs fixing is your piloting skills :]
It is a lovely game, isn't it.I will soon be faced with the prospect of "oh god how the heck do I get this through the mail slot?". The time is drawing near.

I am still haunted by the YouTube vid of a docking computer deciding going through a ring segment (using boost for added affect) was the optimal approach. The sounds of classical music; and explosion.
Devs please fix the situation if you get stuck on a station entrance either from that stupid fence outside the air lock or on another ship in the entrance. I have been stuck many times. I get fined then 25 seconds later killed by the station. This is stupid, just stupid. If a player is stuck they should be able to type "/stuck" to shut down the station aggression and the game should move them 1KM away so they can land properly.

It is rare but I have got stuck on the rack. The way out is generally to zero the throttle, then use thrusters to release your self or reverse throttle. In the few rare times I have got stuck I have always managed to release myself before destruction. If this is happening regularly then you need to admit that you need to brush-up on your piloting skills.
If you are getting stuck on NPCs then always enter on the green side of the slot (look at the lights) and look at your scanner to avoid them.
Regarding the lights ..Wait, the lights change? I thought they were fixed! I'm going to hang out and pay attention to traffic next time I'm near a station.
…
In all seriousness. What are you flying that you regularly get stuck?
…
Have you tried the key that has reverse thrust bound to it? Using that would have saved you millions in loses!
The only difficulty is to exit with an Anaconda, unless you have mastered that. Otherwise it is easy.
… Clumsy flying is the pilots fault, not the game's.
…
Really?!? The only way to get stuck is by own stupdity and carelessness ... …

I got stuck in the mail slot flying an Anaconda, T-9, Orca, T-7 - basically every bigger ship.
No.
No.
Stupid NPCs is the fault of the game and not the pilots fault. And the game is called Elite Dangerous for an other reason.
No.
The last time I got stuck in the mail slot was because a NPC decided to try to fly below my Anaconda through the slot while I was entering the slot. The NPC came from behind at a faster speed. The NPC kept pushing forward pressing the nose of the Anaconda to the top of the slot. I applied full backwards thrust - didn't help. I used all 6 maneuver thrusters and tried to move the ship around - a few seconds before ship destruction I managed to get through the slot.
Once I got stuck in the slot because a T-9 decided to enter the slot while I was halfway through it. I came in with 80 m/s, the moment I saw the T-9 I applied full backward thrust. Inertia was against me. The NPC tried to push forward and the result was that my Anaconda got pushed into the wall of the slot. I only managed to escape because the station blow up the T-9 faster than me.
It wasn't clumsy flying, it wasn't not knowing how to fly an Anaconda, it wasn't not using the reverse thrusters, it wasn't own stupidity and carelessness - it was simply the fact that the programming of the NPCs is suboptimal.
Aye. If you observe carefully, you will see 4 small bumps in each of the four corners of the mail-slot. If you approach and they turn grean then no-one has entered the slot/ you have right of way.
Note: this is inbound only. I don't think there is anything to warn of incoming ships. At least I've not paid enough attention to notice.
Once you see it, it becomes second nature. I drive a clipper fairly often and that doesn't exactly fit too good when a type-9 is coming the other way.
Once I realised they had fixed the lights (which were broke for a while) I just can't un-see them when I approach. If they are green, you are good to go.
With that negative attitude I'm not surprised you're not happy![]()
It might be better to ask why the rest of us aren't having these problems (Situational awareness, maybe? How the heck do you get stuck in a T-7, it's tiny?).
…
As an emergency Option (if no salvation seems possible), maybe one would have to perform a "Docking Logging"
