It is the height of hypocrisy that PvPers are the only demographic in ED that are not allowed to indulge in roleplay, is it not? A pity, given the fact that their roleplay is easily the most funny, thought provoking and downright entertaining in the game.

Thanks J.

Illustration how criticism towards gankers is tried to be portrayed as criticism towards PvPers. The gankers themselves are responsible for blurring these lines. They are the PvP Special Victims Unit. Always crying how everyone is unfair to them.

This is further evidence to me that #ZarekNullMustBeStopped!

 :D

Doesn't The Overlord realise that resources are infinite, species less sentient than our own utterly inconsequential and that it is a Commander's right to strip mine the place. The Galaxy is beautiful place, so leave innocent noob Commanders alone to improve it, as the galaxy's most intelligent species it is humanity's inalienable entitlement to wreck it! I urge Commanders to stop Zarek Null and his do gooders forthwith!

Are you really suggesting that one can't be an environmentalist and have fun saving the environment, too? My Pop always said: son, enjoy your work and you'll never work a day in your life.
All the roleplaying in Elite is silly, ours is just the funniest.
Well, the fact that we actually are allowed is what generates a lot of disagreement around here.
Saving the environment which environment? from what? these are asteroids in belts, what environment are they a part of? The one where they might fall down on their parent body?

Needless to say seems plainly obvious that this is nothing but poking fun, and kidding around when trying to defend actions like this.

And using the RP defence is silly. I've yet over many games that it has not been proven over time that, it was not the case, where similar excuses and almost exact same word for word things said against people that call out people with this behaviour.
I am well aware that nothing I say or do can will change why or how you play, and that's fine.

But at the very least stop with the excuses?

As excuses go though, it's not a bad one. Don't get started about FarGod believers; Thargoids? Running riot in the bubble? Yet sections of society seem to believe these critters should be respected, nay protected. Egads!

#ZarekNullMustBeStopped does mean the opposite, I love what madness his disciples keep coming up with because ultimately the miner in the OP could have played in Solo, so he's totally fair game and any RP is better than none. Keeps me entertained anyway, so for that reason Zarek Null must be stopped.

And there is the problem, there is really no one that should decide that anyone should not be in open, because it is significantly more then PvP.
I play exclusively in open, and at best I've only been attacked under 10 times over the years of play since original release, there's been some attempts more then that that I spotted and avoided, but really PvP is not the majority of open, so expecting people to be killed by other players seems a bit much, especially those where killing them provides the killer no in game reward.
And therein lies the problem, when someone kills for no in game reason, how should anyone expect that to happen? if there was a potential in game gain with their action, any in game gain, it would be entirely different, but until now, there isn't, because PvP ultimately makes no difference to the game engine.

I fear he's only just getting started.

People like us need to focus on making money regardless of what the big dogs are doing. For example, I've removed all of my investments in the insurance companies that insure ships as those guys are going to take a beating.
I've moved my pension over to funeral parlors and companies that manufacture those sub-space death memorial buoys.

So far I'm at +20% for the year.
I might even be able to buy my own ship soon.

You first then. Stop using excuses in order to complain for no reason because you don't like that people can play the way they want according to FDev's rules and mechanics instead of your expectations/desires.

And there is the problem, there is really no one that should decide that anyone should not be in open, because it is significantly more then PvP.

The problem is located in between the chair and keyboard.
Noone except FDev can decide that anyone should not be in Open because we are equally under exact same rules and mechanics.
Open is a mode where PvP is always enabled anywhere. Yes it is not restricted to it and is also a PvE mode but PvP and PvE are not mutually exclusive in this mode.
In other words : It is not because you are not interested in PvP combat that other players won't be able to participate in it. Same goes for any other activities in the game. I am not interested in exploration and anyone can participate in it no matter what i want or don't want.
About in-game reasons, i suggest you to learn how the game works starting here : https://www.elitedangerous.com/features/fight/

If you desperately need reasons that are not excuses, here are existing and valid ones :

  • fun (purpose of a video game)
  • powerplay
  • BGS
  • Missions
  • roleplay
  • combat rank grinding
  • any or no reason

Please stop with the made up excuses.

You do this for fun, not any sort of in game reasoning, end of story. Admitting the truth is something I can respect, because in the end it is a valid thing you can do in game, these continual excuses are just at best silly.

Shameful acts and 'made up excuses' just go together naturally. All the faux 'role-play' and cynical lies from gankers are comforting really, it's the clearest advertisement they can offer for their sins.

CMDR Swizzy o7o7 saves the day, by halting an eco terrorist from exploiting preserved planetary rings (as proclaimed by Overlord, Zarek Null.)

Z0,Z0.

Z∅, it's Z∅. If you are gonna come up with a pompous name, at least learn to write it down.

Look, you can type Ø with alt + 157, and ø with alt + 155, no need to C&P.
