We seriously need a CRCR for this? Good thing they can be acquired in a 4E size...guess I turn in what I got and go farm meta alloys for a while.
Interesting stuff.
The fact that the Thargoids prevailed with their aggressiveness even after communications were established is not in line with the current behavior we observe. It is however similar to 'traditional' Thargoid behavior form before the Mycoid attacks.
This strengthens my belief that Oresrians are under Guardian AI controll, while the Klaxians are the pure natural Thargoids.
Glowing blue fireflies near Thargoid artefacts and Barnacles and glowing blue nanobots, in the different Guardian artefacts also point to a connection.
Self repairing materials is strong pointer to nanobot technology. We even had this in FFE, called Hull auto-repair system.

Do Thargoids react badly to Guardian modules on ships?
Thargoid heart? I have to go to the Pleiades to get me some thargoid artifacts. Might aswell do it in my xeno ship and get me a heart while I'm at it. What's the location of those obelisks?

Hi Folks, Canonn is currently in the process of documenting the Guardian Structures (https://goo.gl/KMqO1K). We hope to have all this new info conveniently available (e.g. route planner, etc) for all in the near future.

EDIT: could only find 5 pillars and one of those didn't raise completely out of the ground so couldn't be activated
Same thing happened to me at the same site.
I have similar problems, but without any message saying I'm using wrong artifacts.
In my case I just receive materials from obelisk - mission is active, artifacts are proper, and I got no logs.

I thought that to but that happenes when you have already scanned that system. It dosent show up on your HUD if you havent been there before.
I've noticed that Sentinels have certain spots they spawn from, usually an area with a cluster of rocks:
And if I feel overwhelmed by too many Sentinels, I just run back to my ship and show them my little friend:
I've got a couple of Point Defense that shoot down incoming missiles. Works like a charm.

The problem with the sentinels I find annoying is that they take quite some ammo before they blow up, ammo so very much needed for the pylons too
Next time I'll go with a SLF.

Thanks to the raw material trader I have some 50 basic ammo refils for my SRV, not a problem at all.
I would love to use a SLF, but that requires you to take at least a medium sized ship, which can be impossible to land near some sites. I think the consensus is that the fdevs made it so these sites are best explored with small ships like the DBX.
I use the SLF to light up the pylons - much quicker than an SRV!
