Guardians Discussions

So, I'm out doing Ram Tah's new voice acted mission. Anyone else having bugs with it?

There are 28 active obelisks over 3 sites. Only a few of them give you mission progress and lore. The others won't accept what the glyphs ask for (and/or) refuse to output Ram Tah data. Some obelisks act like they've already been scanned by you and won't output data!

The mission seems to be currently bugged... I'd love to have FD clarify if it is (or isn't) bugged.

Very likely bugged.
Could also mean that for this mission we should visit the far away Guardian sites too, and/or that there are more than one type (my bet is on 3, jusl like Ruins) sites and variation within each type (just like Ruins).

FDEV won't clarify if it is bugged or not. We can raise multiple bug reports, and they will "investigate", most likely claiming that the mission is "wroking as intended". Some time during summer time they may finally succumb and admit that there are bugs that prevent the mission completion, but don't hold your breath.

Sam problem. I am fairly far out and none of the Obelisks are giving out information about the Guardians at the new ruins. This is a similar issue to what happened last time.

Just so much time wasted as tried it in solo and Open but it just says civilisation data and then nothing else despite using the correct devices.

As much as I think the ruins stunning this is boring lazy mission design. Just grind until FD progress the next part of the story.

There are 28 active obelisks but not only on the 3 sites mentioned on Galnet, found some active obelisks on other new sites too

How to find ruins sites? There is some secret patented way for finding them, or just flying from one planet to another and searching on surface?

Found a couple out at PRAI HYPOO QC-C D31. There are about 12k ly away on the way to Colonia.
Also a few out at BLAA HYPAI OZ-O D6-16. Another Nebula Cluster about 12k from the bubble.

I have found at least 3 sites that are not the ones named in the mission. They seem to have a high likelihood of also appearing on planets that have the ancient ruins. I am doing both Ram missions in parallel, well trying too, the old one seems flat bugged refusing combos it is 100% asking for and the new one seems hit and miss, although that may be down to the new one having several obelisks at a site asking for the same combo, perhaps incorrectly.

So far I have found 4 distinct site layouts (Maybe 5 but it has been very dark) ranging in sizes. I guess there are many and as per the recovered info some are very far away.

Your galmap now has a filter for civilisations, which shows all the previously discovered guardian ruin systems. Those systems are also likely to have the new structures.

When you arrive in a system, honk discovery scanner and look around at the bodies (without targeting them) and any structures will be shown on the hud.

Once within 1000ls of a body, the structures will appear on your nav panel.

Some random thoughts that have been running through my head:

According to the new findings from the guardian sites,
the guardians were wiped out by the AI that they created.
Does this tie into the rumours about
rogue AI in the formidine rift?

The guardians love making pictures out of triangles. Who else loves doing that? That's right, the Pilots' Federation. I mean look at the loading screens in stations where there's a spinning triangle made up of smaller triangles while loading data.

This is the Guardian Structure present in HD 63154 B 3A 40.803, -106.498

In the link there is the structure map.
From my analisis of the site there are sentries spawned by player proximity and others spawned by Ancient Data Terminal activation progress.
Sentries marked as 1 spawn when 1st pylon come out, 2 spawn when 6th pylon was activated and 3 spawn when the Data Terminal is scanned.

I know how to find existing ones and that we have filter now, but how people searching new ones?

The filter shows us all Guardian systems, whether they've been discovered before or not.

Are we sure of this?

They filters don’t show undiscovered sites - I checked with the new sites that were reported by Ram Tah. The ones which had known ruins showed up via the Galmap filters but the HD one didn’t. It does show up now that players have been there. I haven’t yet been able to confirm whether the trigger point for a system to appear via the Galmap filters is when the exploration data is handed in to UC or just when a cmdr visits the system/site. I’m presuming it’s the former for in-game sense reasons, but could be wrong.

In known Guardian areas, they’re found by checking systems at random using the methods the 2nd and 3rd paragraph of ape808’s post.

How to find new Guardian areas is covered on the FP.

Hi Cmdrs

Help me out here; I did the original Guardians missions and visited the Thargoid ? bases, watched the light shows, visited the crashed Thargoid ship sites and tried to follow the twisting and turning "plot" involving all "actors" including the abandoned mega-ships and "Salome" and INRA and Formadine Rift etc etc... and am now completely confused with the "findings" at the latest Guardian sites....... has this been asked/covered/pondered/etc/etc:

Q: Could the nemesis that exterminated The Guardians (? i.e. the AI they created?)...... be "The Thargoids"?????????????

Hey cmdr, it’s been put forward many times and been a favourite idea for quite a few cmdrs. The latest codex logs have however seem to have confirmed that this is not the case and that they have completely separate origins.
