Drew and others got subjected to a load of abuse from players after the event. This was exacerbated by certain people (primarily on youtube, but also on reddit and the forums) declaring themselves unveilers of 'the truth' and spreading a load of utter balls about what had happened, and false and defamatory allegations about Drew and others leading then to be subjected to further, completely baseless, vitriol and abuse.
That had a little something to do with it...
AFAIK the hood on alot of ugly backdoor stuff was merely somewhat lifted and Drew simply became part of the fallout of the staged event.
For all I know, unjustified for the most part (FDev's Plan), but he was and remains under NDA, so he couldn't bring up anything to defend the event. Business and Contract.
The Tensions were already running high before, so I take it the Salami Event was just the proverbial nail in the coffin that convinced Drew it was time to leave.
(pretty sure all that wasn't Drew's plan but he was forced to compromise and tried to make the best of it)
The "completely baseless" things you were referred to were the simple truth. And it wasn't that things weren't crystal clear and ridiculously obvious for anyone to see in plain sight.
I for example saw it coming (despite lacking all details, only knowing FDev's typical MO), fully knowing FDev's love for simplistic and unrealistic twists - and their tremendous passion for central-planning.
I merely grabbed Popcorn, sat back and watched the whole thing implode, with zero intention to participate.
Once again I was spot-on and still got alot of entertainment out of it, seeing so many of the "believers" fall victim to a poor Script and the fallout
(I kinda felt sorry for the poor souls that wasted their time though, but even so that certainly must have been a very valuable lesson to them. I merely learned that lesson a long time ago and it's still extremely valuable. I do however laugh silently at the White Knights who still don't get it, no offense.)
