Have your buying behaviours changed since Arx?

Shouldn't you be pleased that the small pioneering company you helped so very generously has done really well. Isn't that the best possible outcome of your altruism ?.

it would if they hadn't turned evil 🤣
and i would still be supporting if they were bringing that pioneering effort forward. there are enough bland copycats of industry standard grind and slot machines around.

actually, i'm still looking forward to support them with new era if they do a half decent job. but since planetary landings no substantial progress has been even attempted, they have just been adding filler crap so there is nothing to support right now. \o/

I'd be more please if they gave us Planet Atmospherics instead of Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo.

Its OK for game development companies to make video games, thats sort of the point.

Evil ?. Lol.

"Have your buying behaviors changed since Arx?"

Yes, I haven't bought any cosmetics since the change over. With earning arx for the game and being able to apply cosmetics from the main menu as apposed to just stations (though I do not use this capability), cosmetics seem more like bonus reward content than optional side content to me.

This might just be me and my approach toward playing the game. Presumably it was a beneficial move for Frontier overall.

I had zero interest in cosmetics before, and do not care for them now, but if I did, I am sure the hiding the actual prices behind monopoly money numbers would rub me the wrong way - they sure do on pure principle; Heck; I'd want a: "You have spent this much over time, so far" sum on display at all times. :p

You know what I would spend money on?
-Since FDev give off every sign of regarding VR something of a millstone around their neck, not even giving it the benefit of doubt as an investment for the future, and staying relevant, even if it is niche today; I'd be perfectly happy (I can appreciate we VR-users are a small niche), with putting in a little extra, to make sure VR considerations have a steady place on the agenda, being considered with every design, and the man hours to support its working-out, implementation, and QA. Maybe I am the only such prospective whale, which wouldn't get us anywhere, but hey... :p

Is it the Same for you or did you buy even more since Arx?
I know that, at least in my case, ARX were a shot in their own foot for Frontier.

I'm buying less, because the new shop is more unwieldy and because buying Arx before being able to purchase stuff is an unnecessary extra step in the purchase process.

I know mine have.

At the end of every year i bought a ton of paintjobs. May it be the Black ones from black Friday or Golden ones in the Weeks of December.
This Year i didnt buy any of those simply because of how expensive everything got. If i reach enough free ARX with the daily logins i will probably buy one with those but otherwise ill pass.
Overall i spend only a tiny fraction of the Money i usually spend on Elite per Year even though there was no shortage of stuff i would have liked to have.

Have a pleasant day.

my wallet is closed now.

It has been reprioritised now.

Just a question for those proudly beating their chests and proclaiming that they refuse to purchase anything due to either Arx or some other reason - what do you want the rest of us to do, give you a standing ovation, you do realise that FD don't even know you have stopped buying cosmetics and even if they did, I doubt they would care because others who hadn't being purchasing skins etc before are now doing so.

Look I get it, you don't like Arx for some reason, whether real or not, you think it is a scam, a prelude to a wretched life of commercialisation, a back door to despair and doom. But others do, especially the free bit. No one is forcing you to either buy or not buy, FD are not threatening you in any way re your cosmetic purchasing habits. I just think some are complaining because well they like complaining, simple as that.

To complain they've stopped buying them means they once did so they've already voluntarily paid above the odds for the game. Its a bonus for FDEV either way.

You are right though it's just complaining for its own sake.

can't speak for others. me, i'm just making my case, express my opinion.

look, it's just some people's views, they're different than yours, you don't need to get upset. simple as that.

No one is forcing you to either buy or not buy
In both cases there is an obligation.

1) If I want to buy, I must to advance the money that I may not be using entirely. And these unused money I prefer to have on my bank account than on the Frontier bank account.

2) If I don't want to buy, it's also an obligation because I can't buy with real money for the exact amount that I buy.

There remains the gratuitousness which seems to be an obstacle course.

As am I!

Not upset, just over it all. Most don't even realise they are literally complaining about a couple of cents, nothing more. But the way they are acting it is if FD is remotely accessing their bank accounts and taking all their money.

There are far better things to whine, err complain incessantly about regarding the game but no, it seems every second post is someone complaining about getting something for free. Yes I am sure there is logic buried there somewhere …..

I know you thought it was important, hence why you just quoted yourself but really, you should read what you wrote (and quoted):

Regarding your second point, if you don't want to buy, why are you concerned about not being able to buy it with real money - YOU DON'T WANT TO BUY REMEMBER!

or there isn't. i know that fp2 models work, i'm fine with they existing as long as it's not me who 'contributes', but happily there's enough hamsters people who do. i have never felt obliged in the slightest, i can't be tempted with fancy crap and get a free game (if it's any good) so what's not to like.

that the game isn't up to par while wasting time on this crap, that's not to like. i gladly paid for the game. i'd pay even more. i even 'supported' it buying some of this junk in the past. nevermind. yet i have to wait while a greedy growing company is busy adjusting their own cash cow and doing the same to all of their other tentacles as well, all of which is completely irrelevant to me or my experience in the game. a game which has meanwhile languished for 3 years already. merry 2021! \o/
