Holy moly at the exobio pay increase!

This WAS the rebalance for rank. The amount of time doing EXO is mind numbing. Now it feels right.

What's the rush though? In my opinion, this game, especially when exploring is beautiful, it is to be savoured like a good wine, not swigged down all at once.

staring at static objects that you travel around mostly empty content to get to would need a significant pay amount to participate.

I'd have like to see some actual gameplay added to the "role" to drive participation...rather than just increasing the reward. But i guess do what you know, since this game doesn't know what to do with exploration unless it's a spoon fed narrative story.

I was originally looking forward to this Exobiology buff, but now, not so keen. I am an explorer, always have been. Slowly building my rank.
I normally scanned around (In the before times) 10-15 million credits worth of Exobiology data a week, receiving double that on return to my FC through first discovery.

I have held on to my recent data, anticipating this payout buff (Currently running with over 50 million Credits worth of first discovered - at the old rates - thanks, as always EDDiscovery).

So, doing the Math, based on the initial post, when I turn that in, it'll equate to over 1.5 Billion Credits. That's ludicrous. Why bother mapping an Earth-like World in a system any more when there's also an average Nitrogen-Based bacteria (Bacteria Informem, really quite common) on a small icy moon worth practically three times as much?

I'm currently around 20% at Elite in Exobiology. I imagine I'll be Elite V pretty sharpish when I cash this lot in.

Good voyages, Commanders!

Because there is war with aliens now, not with other humans for the territory. So ways to understand aliens are paid much better.

Exactly.
An error of judgment from FD in my opinion.
I get that exobiology didn't pay well but this is ridiculous.

Actually enjoyed Exobiology today, even when i didn't locate anything I wasn't annoyed because when I did find something it would pay off. I have a sneaking suspicion that they are promoting exobiology for some other reason, maybe they want players to find some new things on foot....

I actually genuinely love that Idea! I hope you're actually onto something there... And will keep looking!

I've yet to actually get the full payout shown, last time I turned in data it said the payout was 130m, but I only got about 65m of it.

Perhaps they're establishing the old benefits... Full price at a Station... Lose 25%at a FC... Though, that really doesn't explain your payout. First week Patch rollout problems? It wouldn't be the first time! Happy explorations Commander!

You can't forget to account for the travel time getting out there in the first place.
I did this test on a route which both started and ended one jump from an inhabited system for a fast ship (two for the 30LY multirole I actually used, but I wasn't optimising), and with so many types of life hitting the 16.7M payout cap nowadays, there are going to be a lot of routes which do that for quite a while yet.

If you're doing it for an hour and stopping as I did, then sure, that's going to add a bit on. If you're doing it for several hours to raise your next multi-billions, five minutes at the start and end to cash in is not going to significantly change the picture. With no ammunition or storage requirements as combat or trade activities have, the "get there/get back" time is insignificant.

Ye, question is WHY people care about ranks ? You can get access to S-D in 1-2 weeks by guides today. No other point to look on ranks. Ranks has no real use 1st or 5th - who cares.
Probably the people who have been painstakingly doing exobiology from day one, spending months and months in the black, lovingly gathering data, scraping together enough to live on out there, only to see lads suddenly saying "Oh yeah, I'm elite as well mate, I scanned a few shrubs over the weekend after using an online tool to find the highest paying ones, now I'm back to doing other stuff since I never have to do that boring guff again innit, doo-dee-doo."

Ye, that's why nobody cares ranks. Because there are too many of guides.

Blaze your own trail, brother.

I'm not even sure why people are complaining about the pay, what its saying it pays is nowhere near correct anyway lol. @sallymorganmoore you might want to actually look at these before you go forwarding something that may not need nerfing anyway.
The payout isn't even correct, sold on a carrier. The 25% service cut for vista Genomics (if there is supposed to be one otherwise its even more broken then cause it means its eating even more credits for no reason) doesn't go into the carrier bank it just vanishes into the void, and I have a crew member that takes 10%, but even then the payout is not correct to what it says I should receive.
26.5 million was given when I should have received 73.5 million. (and for context when I sold the data in the screenshot I started with 300,000 creds in my balance)

It looks like scanning plants may be in my future, up to now the space legs did not interst me. Is there a guide on how to get started scanning plants, what I need as far as equipment, where to go and such?

Thank you.

I just sold ExoBio data at my fleet carrier and took note of the actual payment received.

Before:
On Commander: 60,000,000
On Carrier: 348,316,243

Indicated ExoBio Pay: 123,665,575

After:
On Commander: 109,466,230
On Carrier: 348,316,243

Actual ExoBio pay: 49,466,230
Amount Missing: 74,199,345 (66.6%)

Something is certainly wrong with the pay.
