Horizons Horizons Detail FX

Love this graphic mod, but lost ~20 fps (fort those who want to have an idea about the performance).
Hopefully my 970 Hold on haha

After lots of color tweaks back to basics. Just more vibrance and contrast. EliteDangerous64 2015-12-22 21-33-21.jpgEliteDangerous64 2015-12-22 21-33-38.jpgEliteDangerous64 2015-12-22 21-34-21.jpg

There's nice difference with grey planets also. Base color does not change much but contrast and sharpening brings nicely details out.

So Malek I did some changes to mine, remember I was calling mine the Horizons Enhanced? Well I tweaked mine quite a bit to give it a more realistic and Star Wars look after seeing the movie. Let me know what you guys think...

Looking good Matt, although one thing i would say is the difference in colours on the planet surfaces seems quite a ways off. But that might work out to better overall, impossible to say without having a proper play with the preset myself :)

Hi all,

Thanks for everyones support with this preset!

I have added Horizons Detail FX v2.0 to the OP :)

A number of people gave constructive criticism to the fact that too much sharpening was used. This has been adjusted (along with a few other tweaks) for v2.0. Hope you like :)

Merry XMAS all!

Merry XMAS all!

Thanks again Malek. Great job!

Must say your 'mod' looks amazing!

However I'm losing between 15-25% FPS and I can't bring myself to lower resolution from 4k to 1440p just for this. Just noticed though that I'm probably using v1.0 and you've posted v2.0 so I'll give that a go

Cheers and Happy Christmas

Rep given. I avoided these enhancement mods for a while, partly because of mixed results but mainly because it didn't seem right to be submitting bug reports -- often graphical in nature -- while running anything other than vanilla code. I'd tweaked the Ultra Planet and Galaxy settings in the config file but that was about it. But this is very impressive. Just the right amount of sharpening to the overall image, while smoothing out the galactic dust clouds which had always looked a bit pixellated to my eye. I'll definitely be using this for screenshots and video going forward.

Thank you Soulstain, DevelKence, Jack & all the others :)

APOLOGIES! Its seems yesterday in the natural Xmas Eve rush, and wanting to get v2.0 up and available I had a senior moment and collated the wrong set of files for Horizons Detail FX v2.0. All those that downloaded v2.0 up until the time stamp of this post are running v1.666! :)

Please redownload v2.0 from the updated link on the OP if you wish to try out the latest or rather correct version!

Oops! I only had the vanilla to compare it to so I'm going to forgive myself for not noticing. What's everyone else's excuse? :)

Pictures incoming.

Right side is with it on. left side is off. I made my own tweaks and changed some settings. Turned some things on and some things off. I like it but might tweak some more as time goes on.

Absolutely! As you may have noticed I quite like faffing about with the settings!

Nice Uberdude! What settings have you mainly been changing?

Well, firstly, I'm only using the settings in SweetFX.

I'll just list what I have turned on.

SMAA
Lumasharpen
Tonemap
Vibrance
Sepia
Reinhardlinear

Tweaked all to what pleased my eyeballs the most at the time.

Fastest, easiest way I've found to tweak settings on the fly is to open the SweetFX and whenever you make change just use CTRL + S and it'll save it and reload instantly and you'll be able to see the changes immediately. If you want to do a few quick before and afters just use CTRL + Z to undo the change then CTRL + S to save and reload.

I don't have mediafire so I'll just list the settings that are turned on in my SweetFX settings file down below. This way you can just scan and see what I'm using and not having to download anything.
Once again this gives it a more realistic or Star Wars look....IMO. Merry Christmas
