How big is the money problem really?

And this is what I don't like about the moneygrabs in the game today. No offense to you or anyone doing what the game permits us to do, but it's something wrong when money has absolutely zero value. I don't know how many hrs a week you play, but these numbers I would expect someone to play 10+hrs a day, 7 days a week to obtain within that timeframe
That's an over-estimate. It's roughly 1 billion per 4 hours, so 20 billion takes 80 hours, which is one month of week-days playing 4 hours a night.

Here's a thing..

Whatcha gonna do with a fleet carrier? Oh for sure, load it up with your fleet... And then what?

Let's be honest, unless it's easily jumped and doesn't take a week to grind the jump material, and it jumps a fair distance, it's actually pretty useless.

Yes, I'll but one, but only to say I have one.. I really have no need for one. I have every tricked out ship there is, can jump great distances, can mine the backside of an asteroid in seconds, and still, a fleet carrier is just another model on the shelf.

We really need to wait and see what exactly a carrier can do for our game, my game, your game.

where you seeing 250m per hour? And doing what?

Strip mining is about 100m per 90 minutes. Not done the opal minining months, so is that it ?

As we *all run around worrying about money for a certain new ship that may be arriving in December I thought I'd ask how much of an issue is it, if it is billions to buy? Is there a list of CMDRs fortunes, maybe a published average of CMDRs current money on hand? If you're **mega rich let us know in the space below!?

*all = not the entire community, see "some" or "select few".
** mega rich = make the "rich" seem poor.

I'm afraid you don't get to redefine words to mean what you want, I am sure this has already been pointed out multiple times in this thread because it is such an egregious claim, if you mean some, say some, don't say all then qualify it to indicate that you mean some, just use the proper word "some".

Forums give a very biased perspective, as generally the more dedicated players frequent them. If console achievements are anything to go buy, its a very small minority that can afford and outfit a conda. Spending 'many billions' is something that is only casual to people who are not casual players. :)
Not so much “dedicated”, more like “ones with a gripe to make”. I’d bet real money most forum users joined for exactly that reason.

It depends on what services we can install. If they function somewhat like mobile stations (big if) with the ability to submit exploration data and so on, then I can envisage some interesting emergent gameplay. Players would be able to establish footholds for exploration etc. That said, I'd be quite pleased simply to be able to move my fleet around - transferring a handful of my ships to Colonia and back cost me close to a billion each way.

I get to do what I intended, because I did it.

Nope, just you. I recently had myself represented against my will for being part of a community, I took no offence. But I don't want to give any either so I thought I'd quantify in a more straight forward way. So now we know what I mean by saying, all, when expressing my opinion and asking my own questions. It is... lets say a, figure of speech, now easily defined to real intent. 👍

One thing tho.
The results are from the end of August. The carriers were announced in the second half of August.
Then the madness started.
Including mine.

At the end of August i had 4bn.
By the end of September I had 13bn
By the end of October i'll probably have 20bn

Seriously? I didn't move a finger yet due to carriers. We yet have no idea what they will cost and if they will ever be worth it. For all we know, Carriers might just as well not cost any credits at all, but will require you to press a button on a planets surface near beagle point. And only a T10 engineered for maximum mass is heavy enough to press that button...

Oki, this miiiight be unlikely, really, carriers might require credits, but it's not the only way to go. FD might want to use them to drain us from engineering materials. Or Thargoid or Guardian related resources. Or you might need to farm materials from the things at lagrange points. Not to mention what will be required to fuel and move these things?

So only once i know what is required, i will consider if those things are worth it for me.

Inara can give you a rough idea of what percentage of CMDRs have above 2b credits

Hi, do you have a pathway through INARA that gives me that view? Or a direct link 😊
I mean by doing it manually.
How I'd do it is to pick a few random active player groups (as their players are more likely to uplaod data via EDDN) then check the balance of random players (ignoring any that seem like they are not regulatly updated automatically)
Ensuring you choose CMDRs from a variety of play styles

..just to add to my previous comment

An easy way to do it is pick a large squadron, and divide the squadron's total credits by the number of members.
Of course some members won't have up to date data, but it'd be a fast way to get a rough idea.
The figure is always going to be skewed in one way or another

It's a great direction to start, thanks!

How easy it is to make money It not going to be hard to buy any ship.

Given that buying any ship and and making something worth while of it are two different things, is this relevant? I'll example base cost of the "top three" vs, them being any use?
