How many of you don't play anymore?

I play as much as I possibly can. Everyday at least an hour.

There was a definite moment when I thought I might be done with ED. Then a blindingly obvious personal truth hit me. The grind.....it was in my mind. I was the fool doing endless trading runs. I was convincing myself that I had to get from ship A to ship D as quickly as possible.

For me, and it is a very individual thing I know, a freeform galactic wanderer style of play keeps me interested. Currently tootling "north" through the inhabited core again. Trading a little as I go (when it seems worth it), dropping in at nav points for a bit of bounty hunting, picking up some rare goods occasionally.

To answer the OP. I'm still playing, and can't see an end yet.

That sounds like the game i am playing and mixing up with ED, to alleviate the boredom sometimes, i love the wings, had some great fun, but now we need more to do as a wing.

Oh, that other game i sometimes play. X-Rebirth, it's not bad at all now, with the updates, and you can do all you mentioned.

Was thinking on picking that up myself, going to wait for a sale and pick it up.

I'm not playing, but it has nothing to do with the game - it was the forums and peoples attitudes, really killed my joy and hope for the game.

After seeing it in other games, where game Devs give in and make sweeping changes to try and appease a few people who didn't like the game to start with.
I really don't want to invest time in the game if the things I love about the game could be taken away at a moments notice for a few who just complain for the sole purpose of ruining the game for everyone else.

Oooh Prison Architect - my friends have that and love it so since you reminded me I think I'll have to grab it over the weekend.

Falcon 4 BMS is free - you just need the original falcon .exe file to install it and when you do, be prepared to sink a lot of time into it. Most of the systems are modeled in the game in the 3d pit with pretty much every button clickable. The graphics aren't the best but they're immersive enough (and track/ir works with it which just makes it better). It's a steep learning curve but it's best approached learning one system at a time and there's plenty of VFW's you can join (try the 72nd) that will teach you how to fly and fight.

The best part about Falcon is the Dynamic Campaign. It's Korea, the north are invading the south and there's 30,000 units all moving and fighting on Land, Sea and in the air (where you come in). You're not the hero, just a pilot in the war so you pick whatever mission you want from the ones generated or make your own "package".

You will never fly the same mission twice. Because of the way the dynamic campaign works it's always different. Will there be enemy Mig's to fight, Sams and AAA to avoid. What will the target area be like - good job you have a briefing tool to set your waypoints exactly as you want them for ingress/egress and all this is 1000 times better when you have other real pilots to go and fly out with, all working together to a plan.

There's never been a combat flight sim like it and you really feel like a pilot fighting in a war. Just wait till the bad weather rolls in and you can barely see out your cockpit - instrument landings are always fun!

"Tally bandit, three-two-zero, angels one-five, press!"

:) ;)

You just successfully argued that playing with a piece of string is fun for you so why aren't you?

Yeah I can highly recommend prison architect, my partner loaded it up a few days ago and it's got even better since I last played. It gets updated at an impressive rate and keeps adding more and more depth, it's a game that proves the adage 'form follows function' directly applies to game design. ED seems like a game that didn't adhere to that rule.

I haven't played for a few weeks. My time is better spent on finished, non-beta games with actual content and fun mechanics. I'll revisit this game later if it turns out to be an actual game rather than a tech demo camouflaged with some weak, grindy elements and some lame pew pew mp tacked on.

Best entertainment from ED, currently, is watching the marketing spin and the forums.

I still consider Falcon 4's dynamic campaign to be the crowning achievement of PC gaming. Nothing else has come close in almost 20 years! (well EF2000, TAW, EE:AH/EE:CH tried, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R's original A-life concept was similar but...) The whole ethos of Falcon 4 (build an environmental simulator, then stick a game on top, with no compromise as to whether the player would get a consistent gameplay experience out of it) just wouldn't fly in this day and age. <Sniff!>

I made my own goals, like many here would have you do. Aimed for ships, credit count, and most recently combat rating. I've got a fully A rated combat Asp, 100M sitting in the bank, and I hit Elite combat rank about a month ago. I have nearly all the system permits that I'm aware of, gotten my name on a few stars and planets... And I feel like I'm done.

As most have pointed out, trading is so incredibility dull and unengaging, I can't be bothered anymore. The flight model, while entertaining, has crossed into annoyingly arcadish for me. And the rooms in space feel just isn't doing it for me anymore. I haven't logged in for about 2 weeks now, will probably check out the Vulture when 1.2 hits. But, all my friends quit playing the game out of boredom long ago, so I've got no one to wing with.

I had a brief reprive with the backbreaker tournament that Issmir was organizing, but a lack of interest for semi organized cheap PvP killed that off right quick.

Overall, I generally only have a few hours a week to play games, and there are a large number of more worthy games to take that time than Elite.

I still play. The game lacks alot of "basic" stuff that would keep me very happy - but it is what it is. I enjoy flying the ships and I enjoy combat.
In order to keep the game interesting, I try to build a small story around myself and shoot some combat videos for youtube (link to my channel in my sig).

I think 1.2 is a step in the right direction for ED. 1.3 could be an even greater step, but time will tell.

I couldn't have put it better. Well said.

I haven't picked it up in two weeks. I get to the forums occasionally but I am not excited by wings. I've returned to another game with crafting and a marketplace. Elite Dangerous is a good sim, but as a game it doesn't pique my interest.

Still play almost every day, if not for logging into Everquest instead. Max play window is 3-4 hrs a day, been playing since Dec 16th. Traded and factioned my way to a Clipper, then got caught up in the dubious morality of the Lux Wars and now have an A-spec (post nerf only) Python and 20Mcr to see how much a FDL costs. Alternate plan is to keep working Fed faction in an L9 and see if I can get Post Commander by the time the Corvette launches. Second alternate is to park up the Big P and A-Spec a Viper to improve my Combat rating.

Tried exploring but didn't go far enough and came back.
Tried mining and couldn't find the fun for me in doing it, although trying it out in a T6 may have been a fool's errand.

So I was thinking of playing a little bit more Elite D, when I came across this tonight... http://thecodeelitedangerous.enjin.com/home . So, erm.. guess the galaxy is going down the crapper, if you pardon my expression.

Open play is becoming a real mess. I think after wings.. solo may be the way forward, and I pilot a nicely kitted out Anaconda.
