How many of you don't play anymore?

going off the game, its too much of a grind, it is balanced towards people with 8 hours of playtime a day, not average gamers with 2 hrs or so ...
All of the ships over the Cobra are very over priced...no ships even available between 500k and 6million....

The nerf brigade has ruined the viper since beta (its 100km slower and less manuvable)...also they have nerfed cannons, shield cell banks and other items which made a viper flyable..now the only relevant ships for combat costs millions...

OP Game..balanced for grinding traders and no lifers..I love the game but it has become ridiculous

In beta cobra was 150K , now its 380K.... + all the nerfs and moaning...Just does my head in now

I funded this game and got exactly what everyone else wanted. At least there are no more games from my childhood that can be exploited. No wait, X-Wing vs T.I.E Fighter remains to be reshaped by developer tunnel vision making it into a contemporary online-only parody of itself. I blame assassination withdrawal for my poor attitude.

Disney have already tried it with X-Wing/Tie Fighter, with the mega-flop that was X-Wing: Attack Squadrons in Jan 2014. Unity engine, browser-based P2W clusterfrak. They pulled it not long after.

Hopefully DICE's Star Wars: Battlefront (due end of this year) will be something to look forward to - but I would still love someone to reboot the X-Wing/Tie Fighter games.

So you were flying around in your empty anaconda?...

One would think that your reasoning is obvious... Ah well :)

Exploring would leave me with insane bill. Bounty hunting might cost a bit too much if someone manage to scratch paint on my conda. So yeah trading it is. Oh yeah mining, hahahaha no.

I don't think I've played the game at all since the "Gamma phase". I already saw all the game has to offer during the pre-release phase. I still update the client when updates come out but so far I had no urge to get back to playing it. Might give it another go when something significant gets added.

I can actually see the point to it and if it turns about to be a good addition for the game then I'll happily go hunting.
Variety is the spice of life and the spice must flow.

I'm just skeptical due to hearing stuff like this before and what you actually get isn't what was described or is the bare minimum implementation to be able to claim it's been done.

Yeah I'm not seeing it I'm afraid - going big game hunting in a game where you fly around space - i'd rather have more content related to things to do with space. Incidentally, the guys that made The Hunter are working on a prehistoric version you might want to check out - bag yourself a t-rex ;)

...and it isn't realistic to expect at least some kind of external monitoring for manoeuvring these vast craft without hitting other people / spaceport hardware / ground (eventually) or whatever? Granted, as I said, we do now have the rudimentary external cam, but how long did that take to materialise, all the while having to fend off moronic "...but it just ain't reeal!!! ...my poor immersion will break!!!" defences for not including one?

Do you remember in SeaQuest. They had external cams from a bunch or thetered drones!

I'd be up for it if I thought it was going to be any good but I can't see them getting much wildlife variety in there if they can't even add some local flavour to stations beyond this very rare one has some palm trees and this other one doesn't. Also, given how shallow the bounty hunting is, apparently a core mechanic of the actual main game, I just can't see FD pulling off this big game hunting on planets lark to a half decent standard.

I think I may load the game up to buy a vulture if the station I last docked in has one and then I'll turn it off again.

So they have increased the rewards for combat and exploration - added a new mineral and are making some sweeping changes to ship prices.

This has apparently made combat and exploration provide enough reward to satisfy people that were before feeling like they were forced to trade to make progress.

What is everyone in the thread thinking about these changes?

For me the recent changes have kept me playing. On Wednesday I was on the verge of quitting for good over this issue. The game still needs more content, but AIs in wings and the increased spawn rates + better rewards have increased the fun factor by a significant amount.

I stopped a while back then I came back on ... I guess I understood the forever beta game frontier is going into for this franchise ... we can not

finish all the stars in our life time ... so I guess they will add content over the years. If I got tired I will just stop for a while then come back

when they launch new content. I am please that they are releasing stuff pretty quickly so the game isn't forgotten. I hope v2.0 will add planet landing...

and much stuff to do by then. Well hang on ... and stay tune ... read the galnet news to stay in tune to the game at least.

I checked in for a flight yesterday - didn't have time to fully cross-check all news so I have only partial results.
Also I haven't been playing in the last 6-7 weeks.

I've experienced the following:
- some ships have lower prices (that's I guess helping some casual players to get into them, good idea)
- fuel prices decreased insanely (I see not much strategy now in route planning and scooping if you are a trader)
- my T7 was overheating from a single jump with A-grade equipments before - now it's freezing cold I can not get over 60% of heat whatever I do with the engine and FSD. (Actually I like that and I guess the heat buffer is there to shoot if needed)
- the prices of the commodities I was trading haven't been changed at all (well, that's serious: still no dynamic economy on a very popular part of the galaxy)
- l had long (2+ seconds) lag in supercruise a few times which I haven't had before
- I had 2 "connection lost" in 10 minutes what I have never had since launch
- the letterbox seemed much bigger and very easy to cross (takes away the challenge which is an iconic element of Elite since the beginning)

I haven't tested wings or USSs this time and I'm sure there lies the big secret. May do later but not really itchy to be honest.
The changes I'm waiting for is not yet to come.

He never said anything insulting, all he said was he is sick and tired of people moaning and groaning!

Oh really? Let's see what he said shall we?

Came back yesterday, Wow! It's the same people constantly moaning.

Truly incredible the fortitude some of these cats have. It seems they won't be happy until everyone is as miserable as them.

And you think that's perfectly acceptable behaviour, do you? I like the way you missed off half his post, missed out how he said it was the "same" people, somehow now they're cats and apparently won't be happy until they've made everyone as miserable as them, meaning they're miserable but not only that, are that low they wish to inflict this misery onto others. Perhaps you should take more time reading what other people say rather than glossing over posts?

Played about 3 weeks, loved the flight model, combat, initial learning curve. Realized how utterly dead the universe is and stopped playing. ( ... )
There is no true reason to care about anything in the galaxy. (...)

Not happy I got duped into buying a tech demo.

This is it for me. Thanks for expressing my feelings about this game.

Oooo! While they're doing that, they could throw in a net to catch mining fragments. A net. That's all it would need to give mining credibility.

SPACE FISH!!!!

LOL just google "space fish"

If they were to add in comms chatter between NPCs then it would bring it to life. As an example look for a game called Freelancer from Microsoft now that is a living galaxy.
