How many of you don't play anymore?

So they have increased the rewards for combat and exploration - added a new mineral and are making some sweeping changes to ship prices.

This has apparently made combat and exploration provide enough reward to satisfy people that were before feeling like they were forced to trade to make progress.

What is everyone in the thread thinking about these changes?

Meh, the changes sound fine but the problem for me is I don't really care whether I get a number on the screen saying 10,000cr when I blow up a ship or one saying 20,000, being able to afford a new ship is nice but I would be doing exactly the same things in it just with higher numbers popping up on the screen. The real problem with every aspect of the game is that they are all fundamentally boring, repetitive and grindy. When (if) they fix that I'll be happy to give it a fair shot and reconsider my opinion on the game.

Exactamundo. I fully expected E4 to be a work of towering genius, expanding on the game in the same way FE2/FFE did over classic Elite, displaying, requiring and appealing to intelligence over pulp arcade kicks, substance over style. Something introspective, alive in its procedural wizardry, uncompromising to flimsy convention. Instead, it's like a Codemasters parody..

In the beginning I did have good feelings, like many others I was happy to be a part of Elite again. The company cashed in on that feeling to develop an online-only, digital rights managed game engine that uses a players computer as the island/instance server. You know what, I was fine with it! Drew the line when I have to deal with teams, being the lone wolf guy I seriously prefer being on my own and doing whatever by myself. My last assassination featured a cobra wing, felt depressed after completion. The feeling caught me off guard but remains and I just can't bring myself to even look at the icon.

Disney have already tried it with X-Wing/Tie Fighter, with the mega-flop that was X-Wing: Attack Squadrons in Jan 2014. Unity engine, browser-based P2W clusterfrak. They pulled it not long after.

Hopefully DICE's Star Wars: Battlefront (due end of this year) will be something to look forward to - but I would still love someone to reboot the X-Wing/Tie Fighter games.

Oddly I can't recall the existence of that game, must be a traumatic memory, after reading the reviews I'll choose to be optimistic about DICE pulling through as well.

For me the recent changes have kept me playing. On Wednesday I was on the verge of quitting for good over this issue. The game still needs more content, but AIs in wings and the increased spawn rates + better rewards have increased the fun factor by a significant amount.

Glad to hear it and I agree, the fun factor has increased dramatically and I am pleased that they have started pushing forward because it gives me faith that they will continue to make changes that benefit the longevity of the game.

So lets see..... this thread was started on friday afternoon...... since then devs have been at work for a total of hmmmm ....4 hours tops. Then they went home for the weekend.

Just when should they have stopped everything to read through this thread and post a reassuring comment ?

if the changes is like the ones on 2 past days be very afraid for the longevity of the game

even thou I had stopped playing elite for a while now with the new ships arriving with some price cuts to the vulture in particular and the rewards from bounties higher I will return - and wait for all the new content Thargoids so forth

Ha ha this really is the saddest place I know and am thinking of setting up a "who's stopped reading this thread" thread.
56 pages and counting we're definitely heading towards a serious need for some sort of counselling/career guidance service.
Problem is I can't resist a peek from time to time !
Then again I only play 2 or 3 times a week and have barely scratched the surface of this fantastic sim.

My dear friend, i'm afraid you got it wrong. This is from the news letter #66:We hope Wings and Thursday’s surprise 1.2.03 update are evidence of our continued commitment to pushing the Elite: Dangerous experience forward and of just how we value your feedback and support. We're listening.
I cant congratulate this threads alone for being responsible for the improvements to the game for witch you enjoy so much, but it has played a part at least some capacity.
Now, the notion is astounding to me that we who want push the game to be better is somehow dedicated to be detrimental at current player base and the development of the game. This is a fitting quote (with self evident interpretation) from the writer and philosopher Joseph De Maistre: "Every nation gets the government it deserves"

I really wonder why some people felt the need to give such empty answer in a single sentence like "I love the game and still playing", without any explanations/ideas, totally off topic in a thread titled "How many of you don't play anymore?"...

Never mind, don't explain to me, 'just jocking! I know why they did it ;)

It's good a to way to waste the odd 5 minutes now and again, but soon becomes dry. I find it hard to involve myself in the game, everything is so clunky and all around the houses to do the simplest task. You know you can't even store your ship with it's cargo, I mean WHAT?

I haven't played in weeks, I was primarily hauling freight to make money.. I decided that was getting old, and took my savings to buy a Viper and some upgrades. I thought bounty hunting would liven things up and it did some, but after a while I missed playing games with my chums. So I decided to wait until the collaborative features were fleshed out, and maybe some other game play features as well. In the mean time, I'm hanging in the garage if anyone needs me.

Yeah, we all know perfectly well whats that's about. But that makes me wonder even more ;)

I haven't played for a while. My fault really, I just can't get the hang of the darn Thrustmaster joystick gameplay. Keyboard mouse player here and after some 40+ odd years, it's just darn difficult to change. Still stuck on the docking and fighting tutorials. I seem difficult to develop that muscle memory thing for doing all those cunning maneuvers with the joystick *sigh*.
