I almost feel bad for Frontier

Well, we asked for fleet carriers.

And we got it good and hard.
Yup. I think they intentionally wanted it to be really, really expensive and difficult to own a carrier. They might tweak the numbers somewhat, but probably not much. It's almost like they want everyone to feel a bit disappointed with the carrier update to make us all hope for a "proper" update with Next Era.

Pretty dangerous gamble.
But hey, it's in the title...

It's nothing that cant be fixed. If they're going to start with high costs and prices, then go high, because you can't go back up if you start too low.

That won't fix the levels of whining on this forum, but it was ever thus.

Thankfully there's tonnes of developers doing what Frontier are doing, only much better, so people can jog along and play those games.

Carriers. Cant say I am that interested in them. Then again, there is a lot in the game right now I could say the same about. However, I have to say that FD managing to push out this Beta during the current crisis is an achievement in itself. Still won't encourage me to get a carrier but I felt that had to be said. As for the Carriers, well, it's iterative isn't it, they will get better as time goes on. For me tho, I'd rather they fix the annoying UI to be honest, it's out of date and clumsy but maybe that's just me.

I think the problem is that they don't have actual players in charge making decisions. It's not by players for players. It's by developers for the shareholders.
The main goal is to increase the overall player count, active players and play time. It's all about making profits and making the shares increase in value, and what better way to do that than with time & credit sinks?

I've always though that the best person to develop a product or project is someone who uses it themselves on a daily basis, who better to know what's needed and how to continue to improve it?

I feel like we have a board telling the developers how to please the shareholders.

I wouldn't say the problems are just numbers... there are some pretty glaring design oversights.
