It's pointless. It just doesnt work. Either have a PvP game or PvE game. Or a flag to set.
Driving a Porsche does not make one a better person! One of the "griefers" i know is a 911 operator, i would say he has nerves of steel and is intelligent
You just cant judge people based on what they do in a video game

This may well be true, but shoe on other foot, I know a couple of players called cowards and carebears for being too scared to play in open, one was retired airforce, the other a firefighter. One of the "griefers" i know is a 911 operator, i would say he has nerves of steel and is intelligent

No, but it doesn't make ppl want to play with them neither. It's just incompatible playstyles. And engaging in PVP in a video game doesn't make a person a monster.

This is a pretty one-dimension viewpoint to have. The playstyles can match up nicely if people would stop trying to malign each other.
A player in an engineered to the nines ship blapping any ship which they happen across but then still expecting to be able to dock in systems with security or use engineers as well as still have full insurance themselves does not sit well with my play style.
So long as the game is happy to allow open to be essentially mad max mode regardless of security with only minor inconveniences on the most criminal types then I shall stay away from open as it is oil and water with how i choose to play Elite.
Thanks but I am happy with how i play it. It is nice of you to offer those services for those who want it however and is something which is actually harder to do in the game as it stands than actually being the agressor.Ever tried running with someone covering your six in an engineered ship? No? Try it sometime. Hell I'll even volunteer for it.

obviously that is an acronym for Dangerous In Character Killer rather than you trying to beat the language filters ?If we're talking about organic PvP then yes I agree completely.
No, but stuff like, for instance, intentionally suiciding just to make a station destroy another ship indicates that particular someone is kind of a D.I.C.K, after all the only possible intended purpose here is to annoy random strangers "just because". And someone who goes out of his way just to annoy random strangers IS a D.I.C.K, virtual or otherwise.

It's not "one-dimensional" - it's "good practice" and "well-tested" and proved for reliable gameplay in the past. I mean having separate instances for PvP and PvE. Or a flag. This is a pretty one-dimension viewpoint to have. The playstyles can match up nicely if people would stop trying to malign each other.
Pretty much, with the engineered meta ships out there it's basically a no-brainer to stick to solo.Kill me once - shame on you.
Kill me twice - shame on me.

Or block all the griefers.Pretty much, with the engineered meta ships out there it's basically a no-brainer to stick to solo.
Seeing threads like this I'm becoming more and more convinced that this is necessary. We're continually told that anything goes in Open and those who like it that way aren't prepared to allow for others' preferences; they're happy to drive them off to Solo. FD aren't going to do anything about it soon, so the only thing to do is to reclaim Open for reasonable players using block. If enough people do this consistently, the player population will be partitioned into two kinds of instances: Mad Max and almost-PvE.Or block all the griefers.
