If I wanted a 'radio-tuning' game I would have rather bought an old radio.

Hi, why? I don't understand what you're trying to say in this picture.

If you looked at that in your signal scanner you cant tell what it is. The ADS instantly reveals it as a very rare formation of planets. Thats a record breaker and it almost certainly wouldnt have been found by a player FSSing ELW and WWs.

There are one or two player run sites around that deal with galactic records, ill leave it to somebody else to link them.

Yeah, I've seen a lot that I don't like over the years, either in the sense that it wasn't a useful addition or one that considerably diminished my preferred activities/playstyle. Still, I didn't make a second career out complaining about them, and mostly either ignored them or otherwise adapted. The sense of entitlement permeating this issue is astonishing, really.

My solution for MWO was to stop playing and posting; it went too far beyond what I wanted or could expect to receive (thankfully this year should actually give me the game I wanted - MW5 woot!). I tried ranting for a bit but all it did was increase my levels of hyperbole. >__> Luckily I remembered I had a Steam account, and I was fine after that.

OK thousands of players signed up for DW2, seven people whinging they "don't wanna". If you don't like it move on, its just a video game.

If the whinging bothers you so much then you either avoid the thread or mute those seven who seem to grind your gears.

No it wouldn't and so what. If all people are doing is FSSing Earthlikes and waterworlds then I suspect they are not interested in these oddities.

That leaves the discovery of these oddities for someone more worthy as the people FSSing for Earthlike and WW will know that there are none and jump to the next system. Isn't it great that these discoveries are now there for people that actually want to discover them.

You have just shot your own argument down there.

From my point of view, in a way the FSS is vandalising their own creation. Cause as has been said, all those odditys will stop being found.

Um, ok. But this argument actually supports your opponents.
Sounds like you're saying this could be easily identified by the ADS, and missed by the FSS. Essentially making the ADS the "easy mode" button that so many are arguing against.

It doesnt really. Whats easy mode? The FSS has little to no skill involved. All it does its slow down your ability to reveal systems like that. You will trawl thru 1000s for every one like that. Whos going to bother?

Additionally, it strengthens the idea that the folks holding onto the ADS are mostly interested in filling some kind of exploration quota.

Yep, backing any game still under development is as much of a gamble as buying an LEP. You never really know exactly what you'll get. I used to dislike the elite control method, nerfed yaw and all that. I tried the demo a few times with different control configs and I prefer it now.

Complete products sold as is would be more suited to players who need things to be a particular way and struggle to adapt. Which means buying older games, where you can weigh it all up.

I cant remember how many systems i have visited. Its not very high, upwards of 50000. I got one find i think is worth some forum credit.

Edit: ok make that 2 :p I found a 7 stars system but the FSS would auto that for you so...

Are you implying that effort might now be involved?

Maybe, one day, they will steal your Elephant Butt Leather furniture out of your ship and are even nice enough to replace it with something less valuable :p

Probably when the PS5 is released... I'd toss this particular furniture on the curb with a "FREE" sign on it if I could!

And yes, I'm off-topic, because the actual topic has been beaten into a parallel universe by now :p

This whole discussion is about to get seriously circular... again.
ADS detractors are going to ask how much skill is involved in pressing one button. Certainly that's quite a bit less skill than what's involved in the FSS.

My stance is this:
I like the FSS.
I don't mind if they add the separate ADS module back into the game.
of course I won't mind if they don't either.

Good luck with your endeavors. I do hope FD can appease as many players as possible. Good luck FD.
peace out...

Of course its effort. Im sure any explorer will back me up here, you go out into the black and pretty soon you hit the "explorers wall" How many turn back cause they cant hack it? Loads :) But some put in the effort and push on in the search for stuff like that we can take pictures of. That game style doesnt require any more grind cause it is pure grind anyway.
