If I wanted a 'radio-tuning' game I would have rather bought an old radio.

NO

How many times do I need to say it - many of us love and even use the "fog of war" aspect of the FSS that leaves undiscovered planets off of the system map.

DON'T MESS WITH THE FSS!
Heh. I think the FSS is fine, I was just trying to suggest a compromise - I'd happily leave it as it is, mind (a few improvements aside).

Oooh how about ADS in solo mode only? ;)

I just wish they would hurry up and deal with this, put the thing back how it was so we can all get back in game get to the exploration. I feel bad when i see all the new clouds and space molluscs. I should be out there not on here.

This needs clarification!! How do you use that? I don't even look at the sys map until after FSSing so how can the blank sys map be used for anything (genuinely curious here).

How about a Hardcore Mode* (when you're dead you're dead) in Solo/PG... yeah, and ADS with black dots too, and a 'TURN OFF AUTO-RESOLVE' option too!
Ahh! dreams are not dreamt better.

*yeah, I know I 'can' clear save but it's not the same

umm, no. honking still populates the system map. you just need to be in the correct scanning mode, then click and hold and let it go off like normal.

Well this was my little secret, but okay, I'll share:

There are many systems that are partially discovered. By using the signal count that displays after a honk to compare with a partially-populated system map, I can very quickly tell if a system is undiscovered, partially discovered, or completely discovered. If it is partially discovered, meaning there are still undiscovered planets in the system, the system map lets me quickly identify where those planets may be. It's kinda like how you hunt a quiet submarine - you look for "gaps" in the surrounding "noise".

As someone who is interested in finding undiscovered worlds, this is a huge asset.

Just realised another misconception the pro FSSers have. Many think the Anti FSSers want to get rid of the FSS.....they don't. Please let that sink in people, this IS a situation where with a bit of common sense and clear heads we can ALL have our cakes and eat them.

Bring the back ADS as a module, so extra cost and loss of a module slot will be a penalty for those that want it (I presume a penalty many would gladly take? Customer support could accept requests from those out in the deep to add the ADS back in and remove the refund).

Those using the ADS gain NO advantage over those choosing not to, it just re enables the gameplay they like best. and those who like the FSS can just carry on as normal with the speed advantage they have and the extra module space.

seriously people it's win ferking win, why are we fighting?

No it doesn't. You only see what has already been "tagged" - in virgin systems you see only the stars (maybe asteroid belts and close bodies - within passive-scan range), in cherry-picked systems only the cherries.

If you are in explored space it works just as you describe. But if you are in an untagged system it doesn't. That's both the reason why I'd like it to be put back in and part of the justification for it not being incompatible with the new process :)

My thinking on this is that any ship "out in the black" with a free module slot would automatically have the ADS reinstalled, with the option to power it off like any other module. Customer support needs to focus on fixing bugs ;)

ps - I answered your other question, just look a few posts up.

But surely you would not be interested in that kind of stuff as the old ADS is not designed to find that. I thought you wanted to explore like you did before 3.3. So that means not being able to find strange space phenomonen and having to eyeball stuff on planets just to find them.

I also think you will find that most people are already playing the game regardless. It's only an extremely few people who have probably packed up. But as to dealing with it, I am not sure what you expect them to do. Sorry but I can't see them adding in the old ADS anytime soon if ever (not that I am dead against it), I just cant see Fdev wasting time sorting it out, having two completely different systems that will just confuse new players.

Negative, Ghostrider, the pattern is full. :)

Can we close the thread, now? *I* have achieved Stage 5. :)
