Incompetence in game design

If this was transferred into this dimension wherein you are driving and this deer darts in front of you from out of nowhere (if it were avoidable all deer that are dead from this sort of thing would be avoided if for no other reason to avoid body work damage minimally) and you were immediately fined as a big game poacher and hunted then killed for it...im sure that law would not last for long.

But when this happens here over and over and without the turret issue being involved and the fanbois that have a lifetime backing investment to protect jump all over these posts with statements of pilot error..which is totally patho, cannot see this as a insanely stupid mechanic, it will remain along with all the other petty inane unpolished aspects.

The game offers loads of combat fun and its that and only that that keeps this game alive (for the time being anyways) and not any of the logistics that surround it.

While chasing a wanted ship in the Eravate system some authority vessel flew between my turrets and my target, and I got a 400 credit fine.

I managed to escape and flew to the space station where the fine was to be payed (Ackerman Market) but got my ship destroyed by the authority vessels before I could enter the station.

After regenerating and paying the insurance I still couldn't pay the fine and while leaving the space station got my ship destroyed again. So it happened twice over a 400 credit fine.

A 400 credit fine cost me some 5.000.000 credits.

And again!

Have you ever considered that you might be at fault for not controlling your fire? Just maybe?

Heres what you and others dont get: its not a minor infraction. if you shoot a cop, it counts as a major infraction, so a bounty and no negotion. What you suggest already exists as fines, which you can pay and become bounties if you dont.
I would have thought a major infraction would have been to keep shooting the cop until he explodes and get more than a small 400cr fine, more logical immersion is what I'm aiming for.

Were you aware that FD already provided a threshold, that there is a certain degree of damage the NPC must receive before branding the aggressor as an enemy/triggering bounty and fine as long as you are not targeting the npc specifically?

Before that, even one stray ammo from your MC will make you aggressive to whatever you happen to hit by accident.

Can't believe I'm defending FD but please check your privilege.

Why you using a deer in the analogy, why not a real person instead?

Like you're driving a car and a person (say a cop) jumps out and you run them over.

Is it because your rubbish analogy doesn't work then?

You think hitting wildlife in your car is the same as shooting a cop? Thats... disturbing.

Thats indeed even worse, and you'll get a 10x larger bounty. But regardless, shootung a cop because "I didnt see him" is kinda a big deal in itself. :)

There are laws against jaywalking for a reason. If someone wanted to jump out in front of traffic and there was evidence showing it was an basically an unavoidable assisted suicide(dash cam), I see no reason to destroy the life of an innocent.

Ask ShimEnki, it's his stupid analogy.

I mean how is firing a weapon like driving a car? I only didn't mention that because it wasn't quite as ridiculous as comparing a cop to a goat (or whatever).

Perhaps when such an event happens, instead of a bounty the CMDR should be arrested and charged where he/she has the option to fight the charge in a protracted court case where the system authorities try to prove intent to harm and the CMDR tries to prove he/she wasn't firing recklessly or somesuch?

See, that's a fine example of Incompetence in flying.

Forget about turrets if your fire-discipline is such that you tag authority vessels - get gimballed weapons. As you stated, the vessel you were pursuing was wanted. It stands to reason that the system authority vessels would also be pursuing the vessel. You should have foreseen the blue on blue incident and unlocked the target, stopping your turrets from firing.

You did not.

Not the game's fault I'm afraid.

just to mention.. i use turrets beams and a kinetic weapon i keep changing to see how i like em.. Any ay..
if im shootiing and i see a npc is going to get in the way i stop firing my lasers.. the turrets still fire because they are set to do that..
The npc gets shot by the turrets.. I do not get a bounty. but the nps will send a direct message saying

"watch your fire commander"
or
"Did you just shoot me?"

however if i was still holding the fire lasers or i was shooting my main kinetic weapon and that hit the npc. i would get a bounty.. (even if only the turret fire hit the npc but i was still firing manually. i would get a bounty)
i dont really see an issue with it to be honest. can be a bit annoying when a npc flies straight in to the path of your missile you shot 3-4 seconds earlier and you get a bounty for that.
but that is not very common, otherwise you actually have to be pushing fire 1 or 2 when the npc gets hit to get a bountie. if you arent pushing fire but the turrets still hit the npc. they just send a direct message.

No, that is false. The message is send when you do minor damage to shields, regardless of weapon type. Do more damage or hit the hull and you will get a bounty, even with turrets.

funny that. had an npc sitting direct in my turret fire for like 2 seconds and all he did was say "DID YOU JUST SHOOT ME?"
i know if i had manually shot him that many times i would have had a bounty for sure.

I just figured the game understands that i had seen him and stopped firing because he flew between me and my target. and the damage he received after that was mostly his fault for being an idiot.
but if i had been firing lasers too then i wouldn't have made any effort to not shoot him. and then i would have been to blame.
