mhwing,

This just gets better and better.

Please may I make one suggestion, on the downliad file - include the version number. I keep all previous versions just in case I need to go back. version numbers in the file name would assist greatly.

Thank you for your efforts.

Thank you for the amazing application!
I just received my FIP and have ran your application, but it is going straight to the Missions screen..
It is showing the S1 button as RED (does nothing when pressed) and the Up/Down arrow as RED (no response when pressed either).

When I access the app from System Tray and select Toggle Window.. I am just seeing athe Elite Logo and a blank black menu..
Any idea what could be going on? I opened the application earlier and it was working fine.. but it seemed to 'freeze' after I was in the
game for a minute. It has not let me move off of the Missions menu since.. It does appear like its updating, any new missions are showing atleast!

Thank you again for your time and this wonderful tool!

Are there any errors in the log file?

Is the fip panel plugged into a usb2 port or usb 2 hub ? (I have problems with usb 3)

The window on the desktop can only be controlled with a pre-configured joystick hat switch.
so, the fact that you only see the logo, is normal.

Does a restart of the application fix the problem ?
what about a stop/unplugging the fip /replugging the fip/start?

The S1 key should bring up a menu.
That is the only way to navigate to another screen.

This application displays data from Elite Dangerous on Logitech(Saitek) Flight Instrument Panels or in a window for VR.

You don't need a Flight Instrument Panel, if you only want to use this for VR.

Use the right rotary encoder to scroll vertically on all tabs.
Use the left rotary encoder to show another card on various tabs or zoom into the galaxy map.
Use S1 to display the menu.

You can also control ONE Flight Instrument Panel with a HOTAS 4-way hat switch with pushbutton.
The joystick is configured via joysticksettings.config

There is a Toggle Window menu option in the tray icon context menu. This option mirrors the FIP display, that is being controlled by the HOTAS hat switch, to a window for use in VR.

If FipSerialNumber in joysticksettings.config has the special value "window", then a separate window is created that is NOT a mirror of a FIP display. This window can then also be resized.

So this window will also work WITHOUT any connected FIP display.

You can then use a tool like OVR Toolkit to display this window in VR.

The 'Engineer' tab is integrated with the material shopping list of the EDengineer application.

The local api must be active in EDengineer and listening on port 44405

been looking for something to do on this for ages. was even going to dust off my old programing skills to hook it up.

I expect you have lots on your plate but wish list for me would be power distribution/allocation, speed, ammo, shields. If i head track away i loose sight ofthese. :)
Cheers again

this is really amazing! is there a way to donate?

also may i ask a feature request: on the cargo page, can you add on the bottom line "capacity X/XX"

thanks

"capacity X/XX"

Do you mean the same cargo value that you see on the 'current ship' page? Like in the picture above your post?

I have just stumbled across this and I am impressed. Very good impressions so far, in fact some of the features are just outstanding. Great to find a use for my FIPs even if MSFS never gets its simconnect fixed. ;)

Two questions:

This USB 2 vs USB 3 thing - is it really worth connecting via USB2 rather than 3? I don't understand why there should be an issue that way round.

Multiple accounts / commanders. I am one of those sad people that have multiple commanders and I see that switching accounts shows the correct commander name on the FIP but there are several issues - it appears that the galaxy map shows all accounts' travels (?) and strange mixing of stored ships. I have not investigated in depth, those are just what I noticed on the very brief checking of the app on installation.

Again, seriously great work on this superb app. Thanks - (y)

>Multiple accounts / commanders.
That would mean a major rewrite of this application, which I am not planning to do, sorry.

>appears that the galaxy map shows all accounts' travels (?) and strange mixing of stored ships
That is correct. I am not planning to add a separate galaxy map per ship.

>This USB 2 vs USB 3 thing
The FIP panel firmware is more than 10 years old and has never been updated.
Many people report that they don't work reliably with a USB 3 port
(e.g. check on spad.next forum)

No worries - this app is great as is and I am sure any minor inconsistencies with multiple accounts will not detract from its usefulness.

mhwing,

Thanks again for a new upgrade on this marvelous system.

On the USB2 / USB3 question, I am running both of my FIDs on a powewred USB3 hub. No problems at all
