INRA Base Discoveries

Disclaimer: My knowledge is limited and might be incorrect.
We had a lot of advantages on our side. The first base discovered last night was found after 5 days of searching a planet. So that one shouldn't be a surprise.

The three bases after that had a system name and also a good bit of luck.
A few things that helped:
It never was a single person searching, so we increased our odds.
The bases were conveniently placed close to significant landmarks, like craters and such.

That's also how the last system was corrected. Someone noticed a large crater on A 2 B and said: hey, that looks just like a place they would put a base. How about we check out that crater?

I know that I cannot prove that this wasn't done using inside info, but I want to give some context. Some of the people who discovered bases have been searching things like this before and knew what technique works.

Also: While I disagree with you, I think that the hostility shown is unjustified and hope it will be dealt with.

Right, thank you! That's all I wanted to hear - now we know you guys spent 5 days on one planet before anything new was found, that sounds believable, especially the finds after because of craters/improved search criteria.

Good work :)

Sorry, but ever since the first discovery, and then the quick succession of new ones by the same groups and same individuals, it screams suspicion.

Amazing co-ordination? Perhaps... but not even the Ancient Ruins were found so quickly in succession one after the other, and people had a good idea of what worlds to check, what temperature, etc, and had hundreds if not thousands of people looking for them and the most anyone could manage was maybe 1 or 2 every 1 or 2 days in terms of discoveries until Ram Tah upgraded our scanners.

BTW, just because some people here don't like my opinion, my opinion is certainly NOT trolling. Calling people trolls, however, can be viewed as trolling by mods.

When you post something that completely disregard basic factors like time of day and the fact that people have sleep and work, and you accuse people of cheating instead, it only leaves a few possible explanations as to what you are doing. Do you genuinely expect that no one will think that it's the trolling explanation?

Commander J. Saunders
INRA - SAUNDERS: A FANATIC WITH STYLE
M.C.S

The investigators working through the INRA files have finally reached the section referring to the work of the Counter Intelligence Wing, most specifically, the actions of the late Commander J Saunders. Saunders had flown for the Federation in battle against the aliens in the War of Mutual Misunderstanding and, after losing a close friend in an attack on an alien mother ship, had requested a transfer to INRA - then a small but select fighter squadron with a name for suicidal (but very effective) sorties against the enemy.

The new INRA Commander led a series of stunningly audacious sorties and promotion followed swiftly enabling the pilot to take part in major strategic decisions. Minutes of meetings held with senior research scientists at towards the end of the war show that it was Saunders who understood the degree to which the human forces were out-classed and who pushed the development of the anti-alien Mycoid. When the time came, it was Saunders who volunteered to lead the small group of fighter- bombers that swept down on the alien planets in the Northern Sector and seeded the mycoid across the surface, destroying the enemy ship drives. Of the two hundred ships that left to attack the planets in the two alien systems, only a handful returned.

Saunders was decorated for bravery (with good reason,) and promoted to head of the Counter Intelligence Wing with a remit to see to it that the aliens were never given the opportunity to return.

Anyone else getting the vibe the "History Will Decide" person might be Saunders? If not him, then maybe one of his supporters?

.../snip The three bases after that had a system name /snip...

Spoiler: If you take the time to read the logs...

There are system names and planets explicitly stated.
And, the find order on bases 2-5 follows this progression...

Keep up the great work guys, I'm heading in to have a look around ;)

Do people think we'll find what essentially is just backfilling lore, or do we think we'll find something that explains the current situation, conspiracy and recent Thargoid history and behaviour?

Really a lots of craters in this area, so really hard to apply the method use for other bases here, but there is 2 craters that's look different from all other, i'm gonna investigate

I've spent all morning scouting the perimiter of the largest crater on the planet but so far.. nothing

Unfortunately I won't have time to log on again until tomorrow evening so I fear I'm going to miss out on all other discoveries when someone discovers the next base.

Good luck to everyone still searching! o7 I'll be following along on this thread!

It's at least a person on the same wave-length as Saunders.

Saunders was a true Thargoid hater. He was also an excellent pilot and wing leader.
Perhaps the only one to ever receive 'Supreme Knight of the Shining Arc' order from the Emperor. Which is quite impressive for a Fed. :)

There are a bunch of articles on Saunders in the FFE Journals(Ctrl-F is your friend): http://www.dream-ware.co.uk/first-encounters/journals/all/

A lot of them are in connection to the player missions and can probably be discounted as a valid source. They do however give a glimpse of his personality.

Need to convince about cheating ?
I share just one thing for the moment cause my english doesn't permit it :(

THIS screenshot was the most important to find the good planet on 35 planets. Cause 3 luminous points are not stars and perpendicular to the galaxy plan. Why am i doing that if i was cheat ?

No offence man, but even Obsidian Ant questioned the first find that wasn't even the trailer version(2 minutes 30 seconds in the video below), and there was no suitable explaination for it at the time (still not sure if this is the case?) - once the 2nd was found almost a week later, again there wasn't really a roadmap for it - I don't class skepticism and the potential for file digging and being taken as a complete mug as trolling - people may see it like that, but some of us don't believe everything someone says on the net or don't ask questions.

I'm happy to leave it as it is now from the 2nd base onward because it was explained earlier, but again, the way the first was found still lingers over the entire easter egg hunt - and people shouldn't be taken for fools.

B sounds a lot like D, too, easy to mix it up. It's most likely just a typo that got perpetuated.
I agree, we had this before with a file that had a typo and thus made the game crash when trying to land at the bases in the Formadine rift and so on. It's nothing unheard of.
