The east is probably good - I just did a pythagoras on it being due east, but there's a lot of south in there too that I didn't include.

yes, especially since I rotate the galactic map somewhat to take the pic...so east should be read as "east" or, "to the right of you in this image"

I'm 4.5kly away, almost due north of you on the opposite side of the arm
(which puts me about 8kly from Frawd as the interstellar super-crow flies)

Maybe 1000ly/day (although this week I'll mostly be not about in game). The distance to BP dropped into 4 figures last night, hurrah.
I'm in two minds to crack on to BP at "as fast as I can go" and then come back out to meet up with CMDRS on the way in. Anyway I'll be hanging about prospecting, pathfinding or helping CMDR Digger gets some synthesis mats until the DW mob, sorry group, arrive.

No SRV for me - I've been on my way since September
So I won't be making BP with my Cobra but crossing the 65k line is my real aim (well short term aim and then the long way home after that).
Frawd and I will be attempting at some point to collect mats using the ship's scoop to increase the Sidey's jump range. You're more than welcome, if you want to try, to join us.

Are you shielded? - I've tried it once and I think the risk is minimal if you have shields.
It's no more dangerous, I'd say, than canyon running........

Going a bit slower now, found a couple of WW. Still 10,311ly from BP. So still further away than I was a week ago!
I'm at about 22KLY from BP now, slowly progressing towards it. I only do about 1000LY in a night so at this rate another 3 weeks before I can get anywhere near it.

On my merry way again - after a short stop to do some prospecting on EICTACH IQ-Z B47-0.
Of the planets/ bodies I looked at: all icy bodies, rocky icy bodies ( my SRV needs better winter tyres!)
A6 - Zn, Ni , Ge , Te (a lot of this) , Fe, C, Mn, P, S
A3 - Ru, Mn, S , Ni, Zn, C, Fe, V
A2 - V, Ni, Cr
A5 - C, Fe, Ni, V, Nb (more than one), Ge, S, V, As
A7 - Sn, Fe, S, Mn, P, Mo, As
So a good supply of Basic FSD materials.
In my haste to catch up after failing to failing to cross the abyss at my original position and my subsequent 15kly detour I neglected to add distances to EDSM (via EDDiscovery) - I've started to submit distances to EDSM for the following waypoints (where I changed direction). I would be grateful if any other explorers would submit distances from known positions to EDSM so that the co-ords can be found and I can see where I've been.

ps had another close encounter and "emergency exit too close" Hull and PP down to 93%. Again I didn't understand what was going on, fortunately I managed to record it this time. Scooping starts at 53% heat then exit occurs - looking at the video carefully I look as if I am too close but the green warning "too close" line isn't visible at all.

Ooh, getting close. I am at about 19KLY.
I too have that problem where the line does not appear around the sun so I don't know how close I am until its too late...fortunately doesn't happen very often

Its happened about 4 times now and the result has been 1-2% damage to hull and Power plant. I'll see if I can get the video up.
I'm also doing so prospecting to see if I can find a suitable (on your route and low G) source of Jumponium Materials. Basic are pretty easy to find (almost anywhere) . It's the Normal / Premium that are the problem. (I've only got 6 Normal (lack cadium) and 4 Premium (lack Yttrium, Polonium and other rare one that I can't remember).
Basic will give you about 27ly, Normal 32ly and premium 43Ly?
Do you know how much of what you'll need to get there ( and back?)?

Yup...I need over 300 mats...
I said in my thread (or maybe somewhere else) that I think initially I'll try and get enough for 4 basic jumps...there are two basic jumps there and back again on the way to BP. Should be close enough (and it won't take up too much of your time).
