Is anyone else finding themselves playing the game much less since Arx came in?

Just that really. For some reason I just have hardly run the game at all since these Arx things appeared. I don't really know why but I suspect it might be a reaction to the game sort of putting a value on what you have been doing. I am not interested in earning Arx (I can buy some if I want anything) so am not looking at maximising the awarding of them. However in over four-and-a-half years I have never gone more than a few days without playing and yet in the last two weeks I have hardly run the game at all.

Anyway, this isn't a complaint or a rant or a whine - just interested to know if anyone else has experienced this.
ARX has not affected my gaming style at all.... I totally ignore it... will not use it.... will I use it to purchase anything... no not at all. Have I purchased anything from the store since ARX came to be? No not al all. My impulse buying to the store is now 0%. Th only thing I purchase is jurassic park evolution upgrades. by the way, for our european friends.. who is John Galt? What does he have to do with this socialistic distribution of unearned wealth?

Fdev: implements arx

Community: "I'M NOT GETTING ENOUGH FREE STUFF"

Also the community: "FREE STUFF MAKES THE GAME BAD"

I regularly see several people posting in different topics this kind of stuff as if "the community" can't make his/her own mind, so I'll just gonna leave something as food for thought:

Could it possibly be that Mr/Mrs "Community" is not actually some bipolar individual, but perhaps a large group of many different people with different opinions?..

Question: what do you mean by "beachcombing"?

Exploring along the outer edge of the Bubble - usually within 5 to 10 jumps. There are still undiscovered worlds close by, if you know where to look (and even more unmapped worlds). I can go out for a couple hours, find some systems, come "home", and make 10-20 mill (sometimes more) and some Arx as well.

ARX have made no difference to how I play.

I do check when I log out to see how much I've earned in a session, and if the amount of ARX earned actually mattered I'd be annoyed at how some activities seem to earn much more ARX than others. But it doesn't and I'm not.

The ARX count is a new thing and I've hit the 400ARX cap each week (apart from that first day) so far, so it hasn't affected how I play or how much I play, but possibly because of the cap.

Generally speaking I'm target focused, and hitting the cap each week (usually by the end of a Friday session) is just another box to tick, which I like.

I think if I were getting towards the end of a week & had not yet hit the cap I might do a few actions to reach it, but more to tick the box than any real desire to be saving up for anything, and I think that's probably more related to it being a new feature and my not having a large stock of ARX yet.

It certainly doesn't make me want to play less, and my daily to-do list is always so full I have to prioritise anyway if I don't want to spend half the day playing :)

Bugs aside I only see positives in this, I've bought one skin with my earned ARX so far and have enough for another but there isn't really anything I want (that I can currently afford). No intention of buying an ARX pack, I think it would undermine the sense of having 'earned' a skin for me.

I'm taking a short break from the game, but that's only because ED doesn't allow me to enslave populations or eradicate whole species of sentient life. I need a quick fix of that before coming back and flying around again.

Arx is just a number in the background. I'll worry about it when I want to buy something.

For me it's not primarily related to Arx – it's more about the overall situation. Anyway I don't like this fishy marketing concept behind Arx to creep into the game. Before Arx it was straight: Want some cosmetics, pay some money – fair! Back then I event felt it to be fair to buy something in the store after playing the game just to worship the game. After all, I played for about 5 years for paying only two times an average amount of money. (If ED was for a monthy fee I wouldn't have ever started! And also today I would stop for that reason. I don't wanna feel pressed to play just because I spent money on it.)

I'm not sure if the ARX implementation had anything to do with it from the point of view of receiving ARX for my time. More so, I lost interest because out of all the things the devs could have added that would have been new, they just changed what frontier points were called and put time into wanting us to spend money without doing anything to deserve any more than we've already spent.

No. Really not. ARX has no impact what so ever on how much I play the game.

Adding ARX is also just one aspect of the bigger change, which was that the store is now inside the game. This means you can preview paintjobs in 3D and really see what it would look like on your ship. There is no negative aspect of ARX to me and the complaints that it somehow makes it harder to know how much something costs is pretty laughable. The stuff costs pennies. You buy the paintjobs etc. that you want and it will cost you the same as a cup of coffee. You don’t have to be an idiot and spend hundreds of euros / dollars on this stuff per month.

I really don’t get people can keep whining about ARX day after day after day. It’s a total non-issue to me.

I have actually recently returned to the game after having a break over summer. As for Arx I don't mind it at all as I usually spend £20 every couple of months I play in the shop anyway to help support the game.

The only time I will take a stand is if Frontier Developments add in anything that I deem is pay to win items. Such as special shield boosters, or repair kits etc. Then I will be up in arms ready with my pitchfork.

Yes, but not because of ARX. I'm just bored from the lack of new contents.
I actually hoped that ARX would have given me a reason to play more and more constantly, but the reward is so low that in the end there is no difference with or without arx in my case.

ARX is a non-issue to me, I see the value change and that's it. Not buying anything, not into paint schemes I don't see or unwanted cockpit add-ons.

Give me the ability to change the interior cockpit and display colors, then you'll get my interest.

I would also pay to customize my ship, such as the locations of weapons (don't care if the damage/fire rate stayed the same), so I could see them fire. Lots of interesting things could be done but I'm not expecting anything that changes things up.
