"Is the game dead?" returning players keep posting here and on reddit, due to blank Galnet

1) Michael Brooks and Paige Harvey have left Elite.
2) Patches instead of promised content.
3) Content delayed until the end of this year.
4) Galnet dead, no replacement announced.
5) Game studders, game launcher problems, network connect issues continue.
6) Game no longer works through VPN connections.

Not quite dead, but certainly dying.....
I suspect the Coronavirus.

I havent played since the arx debacle, but got the urge and went to galnet and the latest article there is from january.
Looks like the usual FD thing to me, announce an update then either do nothing or break everything.

ED as is works very well at what it does, one of the most stable games I've played.

Sure, pretty stable.

On the topic of the thread, that according to the first poster, returning players are asking if the game is dead due to the blank GalNet: since GalNet is dead (see this CM post), it might be better to remove it from the launcher.
Regardless of how many people read it in the past or didn't, it would still be better not to showcase that there aren't any new articles.

Not a bad suggestion.

I'm just curious who all these people are who actually look at Galnet to determine whether the game is dead or not. Personally, i'd go with whether i can actually play the game myself. Also, even when Galnet was being updated, i don't remember ever actually looking at it. I always assumed most people never gave Galnet any attention at all.

Ive come to the conclusion that frontier don't care about making money. They just do what they do, the rest of the world outside the ivory tower be damned. Even it means every few weeks or months people with a particular point of view just drop off in bad will. I had my turn in beyond, there have been many before me and its still happening today.

Thats just how it is...

Call me crazy, but the only time I pay attention to the launcher is when something goes while launching the game. I’ve always read (or listened to) Galnet in the game or via the Website.
