It's one thing when...

...I run into a ton of fleet carriers in and around the Bubble, Colonia, and even nebula. But when I wake up and have a cup of coffee in the bridge of my own fleet carrier, which is stationed in my own private bubble out in the literal middle of nowhere, and I see two other fleet carriers on the horizon, well golly, that's just too close!

Putting metaphors aside, I occasionally do a "sensor sweep" of my neighborhood using the galaxy map with the carrier filter. I was surprised to find two yellow dots within 300 LY of my own location. On one hand it was cool, as it gave me a chance to visit someone else's FC out here in deep space, but on the other hand, I'm out here to get away from everyone. They are far enough out not to infringe on my own personal "bubble", but still, they are a bit too close for comfort.. Of course the irony is that if these were players in regular ships, I'd never know they were out here to begin with.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to log in and see what these scoundrels are up to. I brought a minelayer along, maybe I'll actually get a chance to use it! Repel borders and hold the line, this invasion will not go unchallenged!! :p

Perhaps the latest mining cull will also cull carriers?
Watch your fuel levels. Else you spend a month out in the black mining tritium...lol. I giggle cos it's ironic. Carriers for exploration but you will run out of fuel..maybe they want this?
As for your post Op yeah agree don't want em within a 1000 ly tbh. One goes out there to get away from it all.

I really wish the left panel filter for Carriers wasn't purely binary selection - e.g. al FCs shown or excluded (including your own).

Would really like filter setting to show your owned FC, but filter out all others.

I know can bookmark our own FC, which is fine for quick galaxy map nav, but would prefer to just use left pane when in system.

One's sense of isolation can be enhanced by not looking for neighbours. Ignorance is bliss.
Incidentally, I counted 92 FCs in Deciat a few days ago.

I agree, but in my specific case I want to see all the fleet carriers around. I have territory to protect, so I don't want to turn a blind eye to barbarians at the gates. Man the parapets, raise the drawbridge, heat the oil, sound the alarm!

BTW, the presence of a fleet carrier in my space is radically different than the presence of a lone explorer ship just passing through.

Haven't you seen all those nature documentaries?

One moment it is just that one lone explorer scout ant passing through, then you get the whole colony taking up your kitchen and demanding you become their serf and do their laundry.

Don't be fooled...crush that lone explorer ship too.

I have just snuck in behind enemy lines and planted tracking devices on both carriers. I am also preparing a "shot across the bow" as a show of strength.

Now I just have to determine if I should call in reinforcements from the Bubble.. At the very least I shall prepare my scout ship for combat ops!

OK...In the bubble when I go to the Galaxy Map and toggle Show Fleet Carrier Markers
in the Options the only carrier I see is my own and where it is parked. Nobody else.

Oh wait, I found it as in Carrier Presence in Map View Configuration. Another new edition.
Darn we have to check everything after an upgrade. Still it is nice if a player wants to go
someplace when a carrier isn't there.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to learn something new.

Meanwhile if one joins a major squadron turn that on and be blinded by all the green icons! :)

Back to the immersion topic. Perhaps pirate their ships hauling Tritium? Maybe they are out of fuel and provide Tritium for LTDs, VOs whatever.
Even better someday you will ask a 'favor' of them and they have to say yes. Seems that starting a crime syndicate in ED is OK! :)

Have you checked whether it's DSSA? Would be unfortunate if they've decided to drop one of their stations on your doorstep.
No, the main reason I decided to get my own carrier is because DSSA has no interest in parking anywhere near where I'm operating. That's not to say it couldn't be DSSA carriers just "passing through", though they've been in their current systems for a day now. Maybe they ran out of gas and are stranded here!

You should donate some of your tritium to encourage them to move on.

Noooo, carriers go mental if you drop mines, chances are you wont survive. Laying a mine field was one of the first things I wanted to test in beta. Even if it worked, pointless though due to instancing.
Before the last update, carriers shot wildly all over the place instead of at the actual target. Has this been fixed?

Hmmm, maybe I'll try to anger the local carrier using one of my cheaper ships, just to see what happens. I will respawn at my own carrier, right? RIGHT?
