It's probably been requested already but we should be able to make our own decals

I'm tired of not only seeing the same bland decals for my ships in the store but also having to pay for them in the first place. Why can't we have something in the way of the Forza vinyl group editor where CMDR's can make their own decals and save them for their ships? Obviously there would need to be restrictions in place for profanity etc but that can't be too hard if the Turn10 guys managed to do it.

I would love to see squadrons/wings create their own logos for their members to use on their ships, maybe some people want to fulfill RP goals and create their own logos from their home worlds, or perhaps just come up with a company logo to further the immersion of being a miner/trader/explorer etc. Maybe you just bought your new Imperial Cutter but think the Gutamaya logo would look better a few feet to the right.... It doesn't have to be anything fantastic, just some basic shapes like below and perhaps a 2000-3000 layer limit in order to create and save new logos.

I'd be okay with a broader selection of decals and maybe some more placing spots. If FDev haven't managed that, it sounds a bit improbable that they'd use time to make an editor and then actively take the time to curate all the male members away.

turn 10 has some great decal editors for sure , however i think this would mean a loss of revenue for frontier and ofcourse all the gentelmen's sausages everywhere, we have to stay realistic that is going to be a thing if this was a feature.

It would be awesome if ED had the same "paint your own ship" app that Rebel Galaxy Outlaw has. I suspect there would be issues with bandwidth (we'd have to download everybody's paint jobs when instancing) and the NSFW art that would be bound to show up.

Or lady pancakes, just like WWII nose art. My ship would be safe for work, because my wife would kill me if she caught me flying with a cover girl paint job.

Some options for this could be that we get to have to a few options.

1. No custom paint jobs, could be default, so by default only the ingame paint jobs are seen.
2. Custom paint jobs from friends only
3. Custom paint jobs from any, but not being flagged as NSFW (but if they are on your friends list, you should be able see such paint jobs from them)


A more practical thing would be where to store these custom pain jobs, how many would you be allowed to have on your account etc?

I was quite partial to the Emblem system in Battlefield 4.

Web based code, so very "light", can make all sorts with the shapes, colours and layers available.
