List of Earth-like worlds, v3

Yep, exactly as he said. Only one thing left for me to add: while there's a beta going on, I can look up distances to Sol myself too. So if you PM me the systems, I could do that for you sometime. However, I would still recommend getting the precise coordinates yourself, because if you include those, I'll include them on the list, and then they'll be on the maps too.
Well, only the earlier version of the list has the maps right now, the extended (v2.5) hasn't yet. I'll re-create them soon enough though.

Seems doable, just not right now. I can get you the qualified listing, but am running short on time this week on account of work, in-laws, and required family engagements. Hoping to make it home before the end of the month, and, if I can, I will start populating the list correctly - as well as the screencap gallery I need to take - as I enjoy that triple Elite status that I'm literally only days away from.

o7 Commander Marx.

Hi there.I was directed to this forum from a link from Johnny Frost.Despite a couple of system cartographic data meltdowns on my ship (i.e hard drive failures) that lost me half of my ELW's I still have 45 that have been tagged by me and 7 tagged by others that I will collate details and post on here.
While researching one of my systems I sold data in June last year I noticed one- BLIA AEB PU-D D13-3 with an ELW in a Neutron Star system is all tagged by me except....the ELW in it! At first I thought I may have messed up scanning it but if that was the case it wouldn't have come up as an ELW on my map.
So if anyone is near Colonia can you pop into the system and check it out? There may be an Earth-like tag in it for you!
I would upload a photo but am unable to.I may be Elite in exploration but I'm hopeless in technology! :)

Here is the photo of ELW in NS system-

To the both of you: congratulations on reaching Elite in exploration! Well, for PaleGringo the congrats are in advance. Don't forget to post in the Elite Explorers Hall of Fame!
Also, @ Leif_Erikson: image uploading on the forums is disabled, you'll have to use an external image hosting site (like imgur) to post any pictures here.

A quick question: to what extent is the 2.5 list 'in progress'? I just looked up Earth-like Worlds within EAFOTS and found that only one of three in that sector that I submitted on post 1060 ( https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/168287-List-of-Earth-like-worlds-v2/page71 ) has made it on there and three others from that submission are not included either (the Earth-likes in BLAA HYPA, EEPHAILLS and GREAE HYPA are also missing). I understand that it takes a lot of effort to compile but I wanted to check if it was because it was being worked on still, or if some had been omitted because of a bug/error etc.
.
The reason I looked is that I had an idea to check surface details of Earth-likes in EAFOTS for signs of cratering/scarring/orbital bombardment, so the more Earth-like are known in that sector, the more can be checked and my idea confirmed/refuted sooner rather than later.

Right now, there are 5514 ELW-s finished and 1073 still to be done. The ones you mentioned are among the latter: you can check the "Data - WIP" and "Data - Look up on galaxy map" lists. Looks like there are 28 ELW-s of yours that still need to be looked up. If you'd like to help fill those out yourself, I would be glad for such help. Of course, if you'd rather not, then I (or someone else) still will, it'll just take longer until we get to yours.

Also, a minor update: the two maps, which are generated from ELW-s for which we have known coordinates, are now back. It's fun to compare them with the earlier ones too.

Leif_Erikson has added a few Earth-likes first discovered by other Commanders to the list, including one in the Soul sector and one in the Crab sector. (Both are nebulae.) More importantly, the one in CRAB SECTOR FW-W D1-10, discovered by =FB=CHESHIR, is a ringed Earth-like world that has three moons, all of them landable. I'm quite jealous of that find, heh. So far, there was only one other ELW found (by Stulli) that has three moons, and that was on the other side of the galaxy. So now one needn't travel that far to see an Earth-like with three moons.

Here's the screenshot, by the way:

Speaking of which, before I start (potentially incorrectly) populating missing info from Excel, some silly easy questions:

  • Do you want the system name capitalised 'correctly,' or in all caps?
  • For the Star Class column, do you want EVERY star in the system, or only the star(s) that the ELW is attached to?
  • Because populating a forum table is time consuming when it is already columnized, is it better for me to Copy / Paste it directly or get you the Excel data?

Thanks in advance. Less than 18KLY and a community goal run to go. [up]

- Don't think it matters, caps is fine
- Everything that shows up on galaxy map
- if you go into 'advanced' reply, click the WYSIWYG button, you should be able to paste the spreadsheet straight in (preview is your friend :))

MattG was right, and for your third question, either is fine for me. Depends on what's easier for you I guess.
Also, converting stuff to all uppercase takes only a couple of clicks, so you can capitalise system names either way. The all caps version is from glyn-ie's first list, and for a long while, I thought that system names were all caps anyway. Then it turned out they're not, but to be honest, I think the list is a bit better readable with "BLEIA AOHN AR-D D3-2" than with "Bleia Aohn AR-D d3-2". (I'm not only justifying why I'd be lazy to whip up a script to convert the existing system names, honest!)

Wanted to try this one (#83 on the confirmed list) out and see if it works for marx's Google Sheet. I seem to remember seeing somewhere (?) that the number of ELWs was asked for, and there was only a single line entry per system. If that is the case, should Binary ELWs be put in as A, B or A / B? (Comma v. Forward Slash deliniation?)

I arrive back at Shinrarta Dezhra later today. o7 Commanders.

That was earlier, when it was one row per system: now it's one row per world. So it should be neither, but two separate rows for binary ELW-s. Also, do screenshot both please! I didn't ask for this earlier, and now there's a bunch of missing screenies from those. (My bad on that.)

Oh, and sure, I could copy your submission without problems. Thanks, and welcome to the list!

Thanks once more for using the spreadsheet format! Your posts should go up shortly.

In the meantime, Stulli's find of Dryuae Auscs XO-Z d8466 5 c is quite interesting. Compare its data to GreyAreaUK's recent find: they are remarkably similar. The only big difference is that the latter is orbiting a dwarf star that's co-orbiting four stars, while the former's dwarf star parent is orbiting a solitary class A star. Both are incredibly rare finds, of course. So, congrats to Stulli as well!
I don't suppose you could post a screenshot of the data of the star and the dwarf star? I've been quite interested in ELM-s lately.

By the way, @ PaleGringo: say, how are you making your screenshots? Their contrast and saturation look different than usual, so I'm curious.

And congratulations to FalconFly for finding the fourth closest ELW to Sol! On top of having the record for the closest one, to boot.
