I guess we all aspire to an armoury of Lvl5 upgrades of most items if you want the options.
If that ever becomes something for me to aspire to, I will find another game.

The problem is that "balancing" is never balancing but basically changing stuff in the hopes it improves something while in reality so many new issues arise that also need balancing, and a year later it's a big pile of crap that is worse than the situation before the balancing. I've seen this in so many games, and it never improves gameplay. Take the new gimbal nerf where you will need better sensors, where the sensors weigh a crapload and will cripple the ship in that regard. All the changes seem to be short-sighted and in areas that don't even need attention. But I guess as is so often the case, the database nerds are only looking at numbers and suggesting random "balances", while totally ignoring actual problems because "devs know best".
Grade A sensors don't cripple anything.
Take this "whatever general purpose" Cutter build called The Dream. http://coriolis.edcd.io/outfit/impe...g.Iw18ZZA=.CwBj4yvBGEGYzAExA===.?bn=The Dream
Change the Sensors from D to A and watch what happens.
Did it cripple the loadout or are you blowing hot air? Even if I did need to make a minor adjustment due to power constraints, is that crippling?
I think people are complaining about the standard Core Dynamic design flaw, erm I mean trait of low jump range and really tight fitting.
An extra 50t is peanuts to an Anaconda or Cutter, but to a Vette it's a big deal. That's what happens when you try to cram too much stuff into a Ford Pinto.
Is losing .50 LY and 2m/s speed crippling?
Apparently to some it is. Especially when they didn't really look too closely at Mark's cone coverage table.
With the exception of Bill Turner, that's exactly what I have access to. And I'll have him unlocked and leveled up to G5 by Saturday, too. Like I said earlier, I embraced the engineers from the beginning with the thought that this balance pass was inevitable, and I like to be prepared for anything.
Unfortunately, it seems like a lot of players built things assuming that the current unbalanced state was to remain. They rushed certain mods and combination thinking they were the "best", when in fact "best" often translates to "overpowered" in terms of balance, which leads to nerfs to the overpowered content.

So when exactly will it be safe to invest our time enjoying the best this game has to offer, or should we run around in flying space-buckets until FD decide this game is finished?
"Never" stop? Seems extreme.Balance will never stop, and that's a good thing. Stagnation for stagnation's sake is inferior to proper, consistent and thoughtful balance
"Never" stop? Seems extreme.
See Blizzard for how to balance. I've been pretty happy with their tweaks over time on everything of theirs I have played.

So I'm guessing you aren't a fan of most games then, especially those with expansions, World of warcraft or any other mmo, that gets such changes regularly? where things can change a lot?
Can we stop using the word nerf now? It's doing my head in seeing it in practically every post in every thread in every context on the forum over the last few weeks... There must be something else to talk about surely?

Is this just me or is it doing that to others as well?
