Engineers Medium Security Settlement List and Guide for Modified Embedded Firmware

Did you tried Kokary 3 - SAWYER BEACON before adding it to the list ?

You can't land close to it, so you have to travel 10 km. With a mountain and a 2G gravity, it take 20 min.
Then the gravity prevents you to go on top.

The gravity of the planet is clear before you land :p And yes, many people have commented about Kokary.

I sure did! I ended up landing as close as I could which was still several km away. I managed to get up a steep slope that led to the settlement by driving sideways in stages and I found that if I drove backwards I could gradually make progress despite the gravity. For some reason driving backwards has more traction than going forwards, not sure why but it can help you get up slopes that would otherwise be inaccessible. The process of driving up the slope was still very slow and took me around 45 mins to reach the settlement. To get to the top of the building I again found that driving forwards and boosting wasn't giving enough momentum/traction. Instead I tried driving backwards, boosting, and angled the SRV so that I had the right angle and just enough momentum to drive backwards along the sloped sides of the building the rest of the way to reach the roof. It took several attempts and SRV repairs (as I was driving backwards and guessing at the timing) but it was achievable. Back when I first created the list shortly after 2.1 launched I wasn't certain if the bases would reset so I was quite motivated to get all the MEF I possibly could so I didn't want to give up on a base if it were possible to complete it.

The main reason I keep Sawyer on the list at this point is for historical reasons since my original data set includes Sawyer Beacon. There are other reasons to attempt it as it is a good test of your SRV driving skills and provides a good challenge if you enjoy driving the SRV. Several other players have posted that they were able to complete Sawyer Beacon as well so it is definitely something that is achievable although it is probably near the limit of the terrain/gravity that the SRV can handle.

Ah yea thats probably the one I was screaming at my computer monitor about hahaha. I had a note to myself to not go back there again afterwords as it took too much time. :3
Luckily I got all the MEF's I need for now...yaaaaay.
7 multi cannons x 20+ rolls each ..... dat grind.

Did I read that right, you rolled 20 rolls per multi? Why so many? The difference between an average roll and a top-end roll is only around 5% difference in total damage, it's not usually enough to want to make all those re-rolls unless you're trying to get certain secondary effects. For my stealth ships I've found that it can definitely be useful getting a reduced thermal load secondary if I'm applying an incendiary mod but otherwise I just keep anything that is in the upper 20% or so of the damage slider which like I said usually ends up being within around 5% total damage of each other.

"Return of the Dja'di"=)
I mean, DjaCop mapping service renews its activity. Original settlements lists has been updated with all pending entries, some were deleted, but a significant number was added.

Welcome back Djadjok!

It's a good time to come back to the game if you've been away for a bit, between Thargoids, upcoming gameplay improvements and their recent fix for the Engineering exploit that certain PvP players had been abusing it's looking like Elite gameplay is going in the right direction. There's probably going to be a lot of players interested in getting MEF and other data so your mapping services will continue to be very much appreciated!

I've done Sawyer Beacon twice.

First time, like you, I landed as close as possible then drove up the mountain. Bloody hard and it took me over an hour.

The second time, I landed up hill from the settlement and drove down...also took about an hour due to the rugged terain.

I doubt I'll be going back again!

Thank you, Devari! In fact, actually I'm trying hard to catch up with all content available prior to 2.3 (with a big list of todos and associated projects). But yep, there will be never enough of in-game content ;)

I just want to say thank you to all the Commanders who worked on this. I was flying around searching randomly for settlements and when i found one it would take forever to find the data points. I went from a whole week with zero success to getting a bunch in one night. Thanks so much, you guys help turn this from a terrible experience to an enjoyable one. and man, that EdPathFiner program, wow...no words. thanks.

Big Shout Out for:

Thank you for this great post Devari

My admiration for the work these people have done on this topic is nothing short of; Awe

Is there a list that has a good route patch. going from top to bottom on this list puts you at random places. is there a route we can so we aren't ping ponging back and forth?

I saw one down on the list that goes right back to where The first or second one on the list started. just a few jumps away.

Hmmm... For base-run route planning my suggestion is to try EDPathfinder tool - here

Hi,

I noticed this thread starts as medium base listings yet I have seen that small are also supposed to have MEF. The Pathfinder app suggests so too. I am not finding them at all at the moment. Nothing but stuff I dont need. Even though I selected MEF on Pathfinder. RNG not being kind to me, is medium better?
